My old friend PO had a big transformation.

Hi guys. This was something new to me. It's no secret that I like plain black divers in SS from Omega and Rolex, so I asked my watchmaker who is the official Omega service center here if it would be possible to transform my old 2208.50 into a 2200.50 instead of buying both like I did in the past. He then ordered a new dial, new bezel and a new seconds hand and here it is. I feel like I just bought a NOS classic PO and I couldn't be happier with the result. Hope you like it. Cheers.

Looking good, POs are great pieces. That little detail from the second hands has a cool pop. Im impressed how Omega satifies their customers not like that other guy...I had one bad experience with my first Omega (just didn't work for me) but haven't given up on the brand.
I'm looking to ad my first chrono and i keep going back to the speedy hesalite. I'm sure thats going to be the right choice.

Thanks Nick. Yes the new seconds hand was the cheapest part and I'm glad I didn't forget because it makes a big difference. Hope you find a nice Speedy for you soon.

Thanks as well Flavio. The SA at the Omega boutique told me yesterday to wait for another new speedy coming this summer (not the EW 321) but the same as now 42mm hesalite moonwatch but with a new tapered bracelet. I'm in for that.

It's beautiful, classic, and I love it. At the same time, I will mourn the passing of the 2208 because I'm a dedicated fan of the original all-orange Planet Ocean

Great looking watch! I like the orange but that is now classic, understated, practical watch.

My thoughts exactly Don. I will wear this one much more now like I used to do when I had both in 2010. Thank you.

I purchased mine used and traveled literally all over the world with it. Believe there is dirt or something in my links from dune bashing in Dubai.

The crown got disengaged and brought it in to the service center and am waiting now. Supposedly they will change out a lot of things so excited to see the results.

Congrats on yours!

Nice transformation.
Take care about this crystal, blue AR crystals are early production and nowadays they are pretty much unobtainable.
Btw, with those parts you can convert it into 2200.51.00 too;)

Thanks guys. I thought about getting this one as well to make a trio back then. These POs are amazing watches design wise and the 2500 is a very reliable movement. However, the dial is not the same on the 2208.50 and the 2200.51 IMO. When you have them side by side you notice the orange 6,9,12 on the 2200.51 is more vivid. I believe they made that way to highlight the orange numerals on the reference with black bezel, and tone down the dial on the model with orange bezel. It's just something I noticed back then and I have no proof of that but I believe if I use the dial I have here with a black bezel it will look wrong.

Doesn't hurt giving it a try at some stage when you feel a bit adventurous.

Are you sure it's not the same dial? Maybe the orange looked a bit different due to fading?

You're probably right my friend

And no, I'm not sure but I held them new side by side in my AD back then and the difference was very noticeable.
