If you had to build a collection of 10 Rolex steel watches, what woul it be?

I think this could be fun... imagine you could collect 10 steel Rolex watches, but you‘d never be allowed to sell them. So market value is no subject, only what you‘d like to own & what you’d like to wear.

My choice, it‘s 4 modern, 2 modern discontinued & 4 vintage:

116500ln Daytona white dial

126710BLRO GMT Pepsi

326934 SkyDweller blue dial

214270 Explorer I MK2

116600 SeaDweller 4000 40mm

116710BLNR GMT Batman

1655 Explorer 2 orange hand

6263 Daytona Reverse Panda Newman dial birthday watch 1974

16520 Daytona Zenith black Patrizzi dial

6541 Milgauss

Thanks in advance for your input! :-)

That is all I would ever need

No way I would have so many Rolex, I would go for other watches after having these 3: Explorer39, DJ36 (if I could not have a DD40), Pepsi.

I like all of your picks....you’ve put some thought into this group. I would subtract 2 - the Newman Daytona, and Milgauss. And add 2 + 50 Anniversary Kermit, and SD43. Both are Anniversary Models, and modern Classics.

1- SUBMARINER 116610LN (which I already own)
2- Black ceramic Daytona
3- Coke GMT II (only if it comes with Oyster bracelet which looks sadly unlikely what you guys think ? )

Too much repeated overkill, 3/4 would be my max before I move onto other metals and HH brands.

Yep, no need for that many steel watches, and too many Rolex. But, I appreciate the attempt nonetheless:

1. Air king
2. Sub
3. GMT (modern, any)
4. Black dial Daytona
5. Vintage GMT - blueberry
6. SkyD

Tough question-could maybe get there with a combo of modern and vintage... Only going to list the vintage ones because they haven't been brought up and are pretty cool watches.

My favorites are the SS triple calendar moonphases. I would love to see rolex bring back a triple calendar moonphase sports model with a modern spin. Here they are- most of them go for hundreds of thousands at auction these days and nice examples are very hard to come by.

-Ref. 3525 chronograph

-Ref. 8171 triple calendar moonphase

-Ref. 6062 triple calendar moonphase

Just one - platinum Daytona. Which I used to own, BTW. Not steel? Well it looks like steel so it should count.

I'll play.

In no particular order:

1/Daytona 500C (black dial)
2/GMT Master 2 blro
3/GMT Master 2 blnr
4/Sub 6538
5/Sub 5512
6/Sub 14060
7/Hulk
8/Yacht-Master blue dial
9/Explorer 1 36mm with lug holes
10/Explorer 2 40mm (black dial)

If Rolex brings back a triple calendar moon phase....

Then I will probably be one of those guys on the list, buying jewelry to please my AD, and wondering if I should go grey

Seriously, that would be so sweet

How much do you think msrp would be?

(I’m assuming we might be able to pay msrp since the watch wouldn’t be a sport model and probably wouldn’t be too too popular)

Here’s my ten, which I have bought over the last 15 years.

I only buy what I can afford and never sell.

Given that the sky dweller is rolex's most complicated watch and it retails at $14.8k, I'd say a triple calendar moonphase would go anywhere from $15-20k in steel. Would love to see them drop the cellini line because it marinates in AD cases and try something else instead...

Also should be said that the triple calendar moonphase watches look amazing in precious metal as well- the "bao dai" is one of my favorites. A platinum one with ice blue dial would be so sweet.

I’m nearly there! These are my current with the Daytona expected soon as I’m next on my AD’s list. Looking to add a date just with jubilee and I’m done after that

I think even $20k or $22k would be very reasonable for a triple calendar moon phase with -2/+2 accuracy

The gold version looks very neat as well

10 Watch Collection

These are the 10 I own, including 3 Omega. If I had to go with all Rolex would add a SS Skydweller, Milgauss, and no date Sub.

i think i’ll wind up with a dozen rolex watches; in the end (unless they release something new i need to have, which at this point is not as likely as it was 3 years ago).

two of those will be precious metal - one white gold (126719blro meteorite) and one platinum (228206 meteorite diamonds).

so that said, this is where my ten will be:

currently in the box:

116710BLNR
116610LV
216750 Polar
126600 *mk1 (depending on whether that malarkey matters to you!)
116500LN white dial
126710BLRO

coming, at some point or another:

116500LN black dial
114060 on a strap
326934 Blue dial
126334 Rhodium on jubilee with fluted bezel.

thats ten steel rolexes. is it possible that i add others or remove one or more from this list down the road? sure! collecting is like that.

and once i add the two precious metal watches this year (!!!), i’m going to try to calm down for a bit.

*addendum: i will still add other pieces also, if the world doesn’t burn. i’d love a pair of 5726 Nautilus, a Speedy FOIS, and various other absurd things i’ll never get.

That's VC FiftySix full calendar price territory. I'd love a Rolex full calendar moonphase, but I'm not sure they can compete in that price range.
