Bezel Removal Tip

Hi,

Half way there! I just took the bezel off the LV but instead or using a metal knife I used a nylon ‘spudger’ which has the benefit of no scratch risk to the watch and no slicing of the fingers to me.

The spudger kit was only about a tenner from amazon and also came with some spring bar tweezers that look like they could save me some pfaff time on the next bracelet removal.

Apologies if I’ve asked before but has anyone got a link for the LN insert I’d need to replace the LV one (genuine item).

Also wondering if it’s safe to wear without the bezel on for a week or so? Eg without spring, washer, bezel or insert. I kind of like the plain look of it.

Thanks,
Duncan.

No answer I'm afraid

But good work. Good idea

I took my LV off for safety and put aftermarket on so I could enjoy wearing without fear
Might get an LN for it in time too

A nylon guitar pick for .30 cents does a great job with this too.

Mine wouldn’t I like them thin. Good tip though, imagine a thick one would do the job just fine. Thanks.

And I just found out from TZ that Colonel Kurtz used to wear a sub with no bezel. So I guess it’s safe?

I use old credit cards or used hotel room cards. I 2nd using an aftermarket insert while saving the original one. A factory green insert is pretty pricey from what I understand. As far as wearing the watch without the bezel assembly the only problem I foresee would be possibly chipping the crystal.

Hmm, just checked eBay and the aftermarket LN inserts are approximately 15 to 30 pounds. I would like an original though and I thought they could be had for about £50? But they look like they’re currently going for closer to £150..

Would the replacement insert come with the Pearl or will that need to be popped out and replaced too?

It’s totally safe to wear it without a bezel. Just watch you don’t chip the crystal

Ps. Don’t lose your click spring

No, unfortunately not. Your Deepsea bezel is not a simple job to remove and replace

Why not take it to The RSC in London? In sent my 17610 there for a bezel insert it was only £55 all in.

Getting it back onto the case is the issue with any modern sub, GMT and dssd. Taking it off is easy, just pop it off with a knife.

Playing with your bezel without a good reason is fraught with peril to your pocketbook. All sorts of opportunities for damaging bezel and crystal (- and fingers -)

I get the OP's reason back in Oct. 2018, to preserve his original LV insert from risk of damage during daily wear. But without a benefit, it's just an unnecessary risk.

I use a plastic childrens party knife sold by ikea since the 90s. They’re hefty with exactly the leverage and blade width required. Also, the plastic is soft and doesn’t leave any marks.
