Explorer or Sub as next in my collection

Hi everyone, I am looking to get your perspective on a new watch. Currently, I have three Rolex watches: 1/ 116500 Daytona Black dial. 2/ BLNR , 3/ a 1970s Date just.

I have a huge urge to buy an R series Rolex Explorer. I absolutely love how simple/clean the dial is and the smaller case. However, in the back of my head, a voice is saying to think about a sub. The sub to me is definitely a top contender as the flagship sports model. It is a classic for a reason. Is there a particular sub reference I should consider that would be a good alternative to an R series explorer for about 10K? So far this leads me down to pre ceramic bezel Rolex.

And if you were in my spot which would you pick, sub or explorer?

Thanks!

The sub will look similar to the BLNR but the EXP will add variety to your collection
