Rose Gold or White Gold Day-Date....?

I have been looking at getting the YM Rose gold, but now I am trying to decide between and white gold and a rose gold Day-Date. Love them both and really can't decide. I am not very flashy, but on the other hand I like rose gold quite a bit. I think this will be a watch a wear quite a bit. I see lots of reviews of yellow gold vs rose gold, but very few for rose gold vs white gold. I know there is no right answer, but interested if anyone has any thoughts on it. I am excited, but really can't decide... F

Thanks

It’s the best bit when you’re looking. I’m currently on the hunt for a new watch and undecided. Been looking at a white gold day date meteorite dial recently amongst others. I’d prefer the white to rose gold, yellow trumps both in my opinion. Full rose gold I find looks a bit feminine.

That everose on chocolate or olive dial is something special, but the subtlety and stealthy look of the white gold is super tempting in its own way but man that everose

Sir,
I just bought the WG DD40 - It is now my co-favorite watch out of 21 that I still own....
I’ve had a YG DD36 for 25 years and still adore it (If it’s good enough for Jack Nicklaus for 53 years then it’s good enough for anyone)....Recently, I decided to divest my too large of a collection and consolidate down to ten pieces that I can’t live without. So I sold my AP ROO and a few other fine watches to fund the purchase. It was the right move!! The WG DD40 is so perfect in design, weight, symmetry, elegance and class. It goes well with anything and with any outfit. It isn’t as formal as the Everose Gold (DD40 RG). Try them both on and you’ll see what I’m talking about. The WG doesn’t scream out “look at me and my President Rolex” - the RG definitely does.
So if you want attention, the RG DD40 will do the job. If you subtlety, go for the WG....

Gold is yellow.

I have bought rose gold but would never buy white gold.

If I wanted that colour I would stay with stainless.

Rose Gold with Olive dial or White Gold with Meteorite dial.

Both of them look very classy.

Yellow gold is really loud and bright. It glows. All flash.
Rose gold is more subdued. Not as loud and bright, and glows in a different way. Not nearly as flashy as yellow.
White gold is pretty much stainless with a subtle yellow hue.

Maybe easiest to choose your preferred dial first which will then dictate the metal, unless you like olive in which case best of luck to you.

I was given the YG with silver dial and romans. Exchanged it for this one that I found a little less flashy. But you can’t go wrong - WG or RG - they are all beautiful. The Sundust dial seems a little less common than the chocolate or olive. Good luck!

My sentiments exactly and why I went with the RG.

Thanks for comments. I guess I want a little flash, but not too much if I am honest.... Have stainless Rolex already for really casual days.

I was convinced I would love the white gold olive dial, but then I tried it on and it didn't sing to me. I have a 116519, so love white gold -- the experience just reinforces to me that you have to try a watch on to really know...

I think the rose/olive dial will do it for me, but we'll see

Take all the "flash" and everything else out the equation and go with the one that looks the best to you.

This one did for me, now it's your turn...

If you like Rose gold, I would do it over the white gold. Much more kick to it. I personally do not care for Rose gold so would do the white. I think white gold is more versatile and flies under the radar. But white certainly does not pop as does Rose or Yellow.

????....
Didn't you just trade your 116515 (rose gold) for a 228238 (yellow gold)?

not easy right ???
chocolate, olive, champagne, sundust, and silver are my dials of choice, depending on rest of the watch.
it's gotta compliment your collection and life i'd say.
i almost went white gold just recently, but ended up going yellow gold since i already have a red gold watch. i really want to see white gold in person first so i didn't go for it.
