Icon20 Looking for the right dress watch

Hey everyone,

New here, have been a Rolex fan since I was a kid. I actually came to Rolex because of a fake my dad got in NY, which started my love of the company. Now, my budget has changed and I can get real ones lol.

I’m trying to build a modest collection, and acquired the 50th anniversary SD as my first Rolex. I love the look and size of it, and it’s truly a daily wear (no, I’ve never dove).

I’m in suits quite a bit and am trying to find a dress watch. I know I can wear my SD, but I’m looking for something with a leather strap. Now my grail is a stelline 6062, but I’ve recently landed on a Cellini 50535. The problem I’m having, is I really want that triple calendar look AND the date indicator.

Am I missing anything that’s out there? I’ve seen the VC skeleton, and I’m not at Patek 5970 land. But is there anything that may scratch that itch at the 15-25 range?

I would go used and go Platinum Rolex. The Cellini 5241 is a gorgeous all platinum dress watch that can be had for under $15k. No date or calendar but a plat Rolex at this price is ridiculous.

This idea stretches your $25K price ceiling by about $10K.

But ticks the boxes you mentioned and has a proper moonphase.

If you are a big Rolex fan, the 1908 is the perfect watch for you. It's robust, has a 50m water resistance, nicely sized at 39mm, has an open case-back, and it's well, a Rolex. You can't go wrong with the Crown.

A nice Date Just, fluted bezel on jubilee. Blue, Black or White would be dressy and would fit in your budget.

+1 on the Vacheron Fifty-Six Complete Calendar. You'd be getting an in-house Geneva seal holy trinity movement in a very handsome package for the same price as the Cellini, with a look that is not too dissimilar from your actual grail.

When I saw your description and fondness for the Stelline, I immediately thought of the Vacheron triple calendar that sinkholeinja posted. I remember when those came out, in the steel red and blue versions as well as the rose gold version. They were all really stunning. The side of the case has this really nice "stepped" element, too. I thought the steel versions would be >$30K USD but they were only something like $18K.

Retail price of the triple calendar in steel (ref. 3110v) today is €26.8k, and it’s very hard to actually get it at retail as VC don’t make many of them. The red font version that I have was discontinued and was a limited run, closest in design to the vintage 4240 reference. There are probably some available on C24 though.
