DD40 Late Day/Date change problem -- The solution.
Today I was at the London RSC.
Whilst there I spoke to the watchmaker about the date on my DD40 not changing soon after Midnight. It was around 9 mins late every day. He told me that Rolex production in Geneva did have a problem with the day and date wheels that is now solved. They will replace both day and date wheels for free if your watch does not “Flip” over within 2 mins of midnight. Within 2 mins is their own specification. You can not test this by winding your watch on. You need to set it at at the latest 11pm and let it go on from there. This is purely a “Heads Up” to other DD40 owners.

Mine seems to have settled on between 4 and 20 minutes past midnight when left to run/without manual adjustment. I'm not tickled but it doesn't really bother me at all and certainly not nearly enough (haven't checked in over a year) to send it in specifically for that reason.
I'll be sure to bring it up when sending it in for the scheduled maintenance, though. Thanks for the heads up. |

I'm usually in bed before midnight.
This seems like a trivial complaint but at least they fixed it sort of.

funny, I'm usually a sleep at midnight but I just watched my 18238 change at 1 min 10 secs after. I'm OK with that.
