Update on repaired 5513

Many thanks to those of you who gave me such great and experienced advice in my previous thread where I asked for opinions about repairing the auto-winding mechanism in my newly purchased 5513 by replacing worn-out bushings with the direct-replacement jewels for this movement. (https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=635773) Obviously, the consensus was that I should do so, and I'm very pleased that I made that decision. The watch is now running great, and even passed my watchmaker's 10 atm "vintage pressure test". :-)

This was purchased as a "wearer", so despite the rough condition of the case, I'm going to keep it as-is for now since I'm enjoying the overall consistency of the case with the very faded dial and bezel. I'm a vintage guy all the way, so I love the fact that it's intact, even the crystal was salvaged with some fine-grit sandpaper followed by Novus polishing compound. Honestly, I'm even happy with the incorrect 78360 bracelet, since the clasp is much more comfortable for me than the flip-lock.

I hope you'll bear with a bunch of photos. As illustrated in the final photo, I'm now at 2/3 of my desired matte-dial set - there's still room for a 1655.

Dial, hands and insert are so nicely toned. I think despite any case condition issue (which imo is way better than you describe) you’ve got a real winner.

Thanks again for the kind comments. I guess it's not surprising there would be plenty of people on this forum who appreciate a vintage watch that truly shows its age.

Now that’s a watch that has been there, done that and has the scars to prove it, very nice!

Very nice looking watches. What’s wrong with case? Actual real wear seems to put some off. It’s part of the history of the watch.

Great results, really like that you kept the crystal, too, it keeps the overall look consistent
