Ladies Datejust real?

Hello. So I am getting married in a few months and I am looking to get my fiancé a Rolex for our "wedding day gift." We are currently looking for a house and paying for the wedding so money is somewhat tight, but she is worth it. I have someone offering me this Datejust, I just want to make sure it's not a replica. It was appraised by a local jeweler but that doesn't always mean it's legit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here is a link to a listing by an established seller that shows the watch from multiple angles. Do you notice any differences? http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...mtid=824&kw=lg

And here is a front view photo of a 16233 white dial with Roman numerals from a very trusted seller... HQ Milton

Lettering is bolder and the Swiss writing on the bottom is wrong. Also the spacing between Roman numberals isn't right. Am I correct?

The HQ Milton watch is 36mm. The OP's watch looks like a smaller, ladies size. Do we know the ref/model number?

Says style number R6917351B6252. "New"style number R7971351B6252.

So you have the original warranty paper with that number?

Anyway, I believe the 79713 is a 26mm watch so there is no point in comparing it to a 36mm Datejust.

Total mistake. I just looked at it and thought "16233" so that's what I researched. I was on auto-pilot after that. To the OP and everyone else, sorry for the error. Thanks for catching it!

They are different size watches you can't compare.

If the papers have the code you provided and the serial number matches also you pretty good. In my opinion the watch is ok

However the more pics you provide the more sure we can be. We like to see pics of the inner clasp/. Crown, caseback and movement , serial engravings on the case the more the better cheers

More pics are in the link he posted to EBay.
m.ebay.com/itm/152183762461

But - a big but - that seller has been asleep for quite a while. Since 1999 only 82 transactions. And zero feedback for over a year.

OP: do you recall the #1 rule?
Buy the Seller first.

Pictures are just pictures. I'd move towards a trusted seller.

It's possible that he has done other transactions and no feedback was left. Many people don't seem to take the time to leave feedback. Looking at the feedback he has left for others, he left a positive feedback for somebody who bought something from him. So that is a plus, but your advice is solid and time tested.

He told me that it's his wife's friends and she just got divorced and he's selling it for her. That's all the info he gave me. He showed me the paperwork from the appraisal but it's nothing specific it's only the description of the watch (which is what he wrote as the description on eBay).

Sure you want to give your new bride a recently divorced woman's watch?

Doh!

Watch looks good from here.
Listing says it's an E-serial, which puts the production date around 1990/91 I believe, so the thin-font date disc is OK.
Soon after they started using a much more bold/blocky font on the lady DJ, which is a bit easier to see.

This. It's just bad Karma. And the watch does not seem that overly cheap. But I do like the look of that combo.

Didn't know that until he wrote that. I don't believe in that so its not going to bother me. She likes vintage things. So is this good to bid on? Or wait for something else?

That first link did not work for me ?
Yours does ? Anyway correct box also but as you state now i can see a large gap in feedback, that would concern me. Pictures are just pictures as you state that does not mean you will get what's shown. Cheers

Ladies Datejust real?

Those are not Rolex papers and don't mean much. You new pictures are not much better. We are trying to ensure all parts like the band remain original, it has lots of numbers on the watch on the inside of the clasp and case, get photos of those

Edited spelling
