Icon20 Ice Blue dial variations over the years?

I recall an article I read which detailed the (sometimes drastic) colour variations that occurred in the famous ice blue/glacier blue dials placed on platinum Rolexes. I cannot find it now, but I recall it demonstrated the way the blue ranged from very faint to (nowadays) far more obviously blue.

Can those on this forum help me out? Am I completely wrong? Are there really significant colour variations? Direct comparison pictures deeply appreciated.

Are you asking about vintage Day-Dates? You might be better off posting this on the general forum if this question pertains to more modern Rolexes.

I believe ice blue is a modern dial color and not vintage. If there is an ice blue dial on a vintage piece then it is most likely an aftermarket dial and didnt come from Rolex.

I’ve seen pale Day-Dates that are pretty far from my dial color. Although they have the same name, that’s where the similarity ends. Mine is a definite blue, but can look silver or greenish in some lights.

Some may be light dependent... My DD bought this year is fairly pale in sunlight but darker at other times
