Hello and help with 7021 Tudor

Hello Everyone from South Africa!

Just joined the forum and need some help with my dad's 7021 Snowflake Tudor.

He received it for his 21st birthday in 1978 and proceeded to batter the old girl so much that it had to be side lined. It has sadly lost it's bezel and insert and I cannot afford to find and buy an original or NOS. My plan is to restore the watch so that my dad can wear it again. The patina is extreme but I love it and want to try and bring it back to life again.

Any advice on where to get a full aftermarket bezel set?

It depends if you want an original period correct bezel or an "aftermarket" bezel
If you want a cheap aftermarket bezel ebay has quite a few

Hi cape Town!
I bought a Rolex bezel and insert component from my Rolex dealer. It’s the same part that fits the 5513 Rolex. It set me back about c$350. It won’t have the patina of the orig but it is worthy of the expense. Get a new tube, springbars, and crystal while you are at it.

Thanks for the replies! I can't afford an original part right now so eBay it will be. Does the Rolex 5513 bezel fit the 7021 Tudor?

Thanks for that. I don't think I'm allowed to post pictures until I've got 10 posts but as soon as I'm able I'll put them up

She's had a hard hard life, but still ticks so there's hope for her. My dad got it on his 21st birthday in 1978

Looks like she was worn well and loved a lot. I'd have hands re lumed, add new crystal and leave rest alone. Bezels will pop up here and elsewhere. I wonder if Rolex AD or service center would sell you a bezel if you dropped in and asked.

damn that has been worn well.

Notice the backcase has additional "grooves" to allow it to be opened without the rolex tool.

the dial isn't in great condition (those dials were prone to damage)...not sure what to do with it to be honest.

That's the plan. My local independant is moving shop so once he's set up again and parts are out of moving boxes i'll get him to replace the parts needed, service the movement and get it on a Nato.

Aftermarket bezel is on the way from ebay already.

I need a new crystal, springbars, a sympathetic re lume of the hands to match the coffee colour of the markers as well as some internal parts.

Yeah, it looks like the paint has bubbled up around the edges. I have heard of people having dials sealed, but I don't know if that would be possible here. Paint chips floating around in the movement could be bad news. Maybe someone here can make a suggestion to the OP.
