Sorry to see but as Rob says you're treating this with class. Not the end of the world as some here would think. Get it fixed and move on!

Sorry it happened Steve. As you pointed out, there's more important things in life. You handled it well. Nice to see you wear and enjoy your watches. Life's too short. Good luck with your new baby. Hope all goes well

Materials certainly are funny. I had some training at one point where we were using crushed ceramic from spark plugs and using the shards to break vehicle Windows. (Military stuff!)

Point is sometimes it's something small at just the right resonance to break something.

Hope it gets fixed soon, bud!
Absolutely Matt!! We just really never know unless we feel it or see damage immediately

The repair is well under way!!

Complete class act Steve - way to take ownership of the mistake and glad it worked out that the replacement was not overly burdensome....karma will be smiling on you Sir!

Congrats for your positive attitute and glad you're happy with the cost of repair.

I really like how nice ceramic looks, but your expericence revives my fear of its brittlemess, whether justified or not. I guess this is an isolated case.

Thank you so very much!! Everything is well used and very much enjoyed

Thank you kindly for the family well wishes!!! As expected that is exactly where the heart is. Our new addition has us at near capacity in December and we are both thrilled.

I really respect the brand and history. With that being on my mind I would never want to tarnish an image based on my own personal gain by even going down the claim route. The impact mark on the bezel was not a limited edition

The out pouring of sympathy here has been exactly what I have always loved about TRF, really amazing community!!!

Steve,

Well that sucks! Although at the end of the day, it looks like everything is turning out all right.

This hurt me to the quick, as this watch is my someday grail. But, good for you for keeping such a positive attitude about it and a sense of humor. If it would have been me, I don't think I could have managed either.

And kudos to your dealer for being so nice about the whole thing. What a guy!

Thank you kindly Brett!!! Definitely my fault The dealers and RSC I use are like family. Maintaining that level of peace was always my priority. We are all far too close to get worked up over anything like this. Karma is very important to me and it was just natural to move forward the best way possible

Awesome Larry!!! My dealer is a very close friend, I think the world of him, always have.

I would not let my experience sour your desire for the watch!! I certainly did strike it on something and I am really leaning towards the seat belt on the plane. But it was absolutely a rare impact.

The watch to me is beautiful and robust. I wore it daily and I would certainly not discourage anyone from doing the same

Thanks, really appreciate your kindness!!

Thanks Julian!! Fatherhood has certainly calmed me down. If my Son did it the reaction has to be the same, very calm.

Very unfortunate but good to hear you have a plan to make all normal again. As you said, bad luck here. I'm wondering whether a gold bezel and it's malleability make it more susceptible to bezel insert damage vs. SS? I definitely think your incident should prompt Rolex to deliver the Plat Coke GMT at Baselworld 2016.

Good on you Steve, you are handling it with style and class as ever. I had a near scamming incident yesterday and was beating myself up about it, but like you I am going to learn from it and put it behind me, no point worrying over spilt milk. So a personal thank you from me too, mate.

Wow ! That is an interesting subject for sure.

If you take a close up look to the first picture shared the bezel looks like it's taken its share of wrist time and bangs.

Certainly has been very well loved:) the watch received more wrist time than any other model I have owned or own. So zero dissatisfaction here!! Love that watch!!

Hope to see yours fixed in short order. FWIW, my Pepsi also has a scratch between the 1 and 2 o'clock markers...it's fine the way it is though.

Glad you are getting resolved. Just wondering how did you pop the bezel off for the pics? Did you do it or your AD?
