Lucky pre Xmas surprise find!

Hi guys

Don’t post a lot nowadays but wanted to share. Been on the wait list for a DJ41 for probably a couple years now. Yes, I could easily pick up a DJ, but wanted a specific configuration. So I walked past the dealer about a week ago and saw a Deep Sea in the window. Which you never see nowadays. Lol. Thought I’d pop in and buy it. No such luck though. It was already spoken for and the dealer just had it in the window as an interest generator.

But then he says they literally just received the shipment earlier that day and it had a DJ in it. I wasn’t hopeful. Asked what it was. It was a DJ 41. Ok. Colour? Blue. Okay. Now I’m listening. Dial? Stick. Eek. Bezel? Fluted. No way! Bracelet? Jubilee. Whaaaaat?!? I’ll take it. Exactly what I was looking for. Out of 4 million different DJ combos that was the one I was on the list for.

Have had it for a week and loving it. It wears super low profile and is really comfy. Can’t be happier. It is a sporty dress watch.

Funny story. Had it in the windowsill over night and walked up to it this morning to put on. Sun caught the lug going to the bracelet and it had a massive scratch. I was like wtf. No way. Gave it the fingernail nick check for depth and could feel it with my nail. Very disappointing. Until I notice it was the edge of a sticker we missed. 😂😂😂 pulled it off and like magic the ‘scratch’ is gone. Lol.

Typical Rolex problems eh? 😂

Greg

My favorite DJ configuration. So much for ‘being on the list!’ T’would be interesting to see if you’d gotten the call if you hadn’t happened upon it!

That's awesome, congratulations! Just picked up the same exact watch with slate dial a couple months ago. The DJ41 is a fantastic watch and to stumble across a blue fluted/jubilee is pretty shocking.

Hi Greg, that is a fantastically beautiful DJ. Huge congrats on the find. It looks absolutely amazing on you; I hope it brings you much enjoyment. By the way, you'll be happy to know I still have the burgundy-bezel Black Bay that I purchased from you in 2012. It's been absolutely flawless and completely enjoyable throughout the last 9 years of ownership. I've since added a matching Tudor SS bracelet for it; the watch is pure perfection! Enjoy your stunning new DJ. Kind regards, -Rick.

Lovely watch - congratulations! I’ve just ordered a 41mm Slate with domed bezel and Jubilee Bracelet and have been told 1-2 years. Wait lists for Date Justs - How time’s have changed!

Congrats on that beauty!

I got mine in February of this year, was kind of interesting, I had a 2020 DJ41 with white stick dial, smooth bezel and oyster bracelet. While this was the exact combo I wanted when I bought the watch as a substitute for the then newly out of production OP39 to be my new daily watch, after a while of seeing videos and pics of the watch you just bought, I had a little bit of buyers remorse. So I tried to "fix" my watch by contacting my SA asking if I could get a Jubilee bracelet, she said yes, but of course it's a no go on the fluted bezel. So I asked her I she can get me another DJ41, this time white stick, fluted, jubilee, and she said "yeah, but, I actually have that combo in blue coming, would you like that one when it comes in?" I of course said "hell yeah!", and a week later I got the text of it in it's transport coffin!

Wore it every day since until I found it too nice to be a daily beater and I got a Titanium Gshock to take it's place for daily duty.

So now the DJ41 has joined my Bluesy, Rootbeer, and 1960s YG Datejust as my weekend watches.
