Shipping Tudor Watch From the UK to the USA. Problems?

I reside in Minnesota, USA, and I am going to buy a pre-owned Tudor watch from a trustworthy and long-time TRF member in London. Are there problems I should anticipate in shipping the watch to the US? Do you recommend any particular shipper?

Another option is to send the watch back to the USA with a willing TRF member who attends the upcoming London GTG. That could work, but it would introduce another person into the transaction, though I rather doubt that someone who attends a TRF GTG overseas is likely to walk away with the watch.

Any advice for me in getting the Tudor shipped to Minnesota, USA?

I've been told that it is illegal to import a new or used Rolex into the United States. Is this true? If so, does the same apply to the Tudor brand? Has anyone out there purchased a Rolex or Tudor from a seller in another country?

hey.. you wont have any bother! this is the UK not some 3rd world country! i have bought and sold from and to the USA with no trouble. as long as the customs declaration is marked accordingly, you'll be fine.

shipping with DHL or Parcel Force from the UK works fine. i am sure the seller- if he is from London, will tell you the same..

best of luck with the purchase.

This is true when importing a Rolex FROM the United States into a foreign country. It is a different story trying to import a Rolex product INTO the USA. RUSA controls ALL importation of Rolex.

Do you know if the same applies to the Tudor brand as well? New and used?

Is the "ban" on shipping a Rolex into the US a RUSA corporate policy or is it a United States Customs regulation? Are US customs agents required to enforce the policy of a non-governmental entity like Rolex?

Based on my limited research it is a very unusual circumstance wherein the US govt under threat of possible litigation enforces RUSA trademark rights on Rolex product imported by mail or courier into the US.However when a Rolex watch is declared at the border by a returning US citizen for personal use it is ok. The assumption is that mailed or couriered watches are for resale in the US thereby triggering the trademark rights of RUSA to exclusive importation and sale of ROLEX product into the US . Tudor is NOT sold in the US at this time, again my limited research found that Tudor is NOT a problem to import into the USA. Importer beware.

Does anyone know definitively whether the importation restriction applies to the Tudor brand? I've read this thread and other referenced threads but haven't come across anything conclusive one way or the other. Considering importing a vintage Tudor...

Chris
