A quick polishing shouldn't cost much at all and it'll make the watch look good as new.

I think most ADs provide some sort of polishing service. Not sure what it would cost.
Thing is the scratches will "reappear" in short order.
If you want there are some products that you can useyourself that do a great job.
The fiberglass pen is a good one--if used correctly.

Hi Gabe,

If you go back to your own AD from whom you bought the watch, it will cost him a few minutes - it should cost you absolutely NOTHING!!!

If you've given him your business, it's only fair that he give you a bit of his after sales service.

JJ

We (BB) used to do it, but we have been told not to anymore. There were a lot of associates that were polishing Rolexes that did not have any idea what they were doing, as a result many innocent timepieces were lost (by that I mean demolished)...

Your post is not very clear, Val. By "associates" what exactly do you mean? Surely, you're not saying that there were guys at your place who did not know their job.

Polishing is not a big deal. Any qualified watchmaker with the right equipment can carry out the job with 100% success rate.

Oh, stop being such a JJ, Gabe - you don't go polishing and babying your SD till it looks like this:

Who knows? maybe the scratches make your watch run better. After face planting mine a few days ago onto bathroom tiles, my SD is running less than +1 a day

I should start a SD regulating services LOL

Can't see you'll get too many customers when they find out exactly how you calibrate the watch!!

would anyone know how much it would cost to replace the crystal on a submariner? and also know if it would have any negative affect on the waterproofness of the watch?

I think RSC charges $35-$40 for acryllic, not sure about saphire..never had to do one of those yet. I thought I've read $95-$100 on those, but that's a guess.
Provided it's done right and pressure tested no ill effects at all. Good idea to change the gaskets also.

When New York RSC changed my crystal, they gave me a quote of 180 dollars to polish the bracelet and case.

I declined, took it to my local AD and they charged me 45 dollars (I did not buy the watch there). I was not happy with their job though. The brushed finish of the bracelet did not look like the Rolex polish. It was a little different.
