Milgauss case back height vs. other sport models
Hi all!
Is it true that the Milgauss case back is higher than that of the GMT-Master and Explorer II? It certainly seems that way to me. I know that is the case for the dive models (esp. the SD) for the water residence – is it the Milgauss case back higher because of its antimagnetic features? How do the watches all stack up in terms of case height? Anyone have technical facts or measurements? I'm really just curious! Also, does anyone find that watches with higher case backs are more comfortable because they don't stick as much? Cheers!

I wouldn’t say the Milgauss is more comfortable...but I do enjoy the heft.

I have a Milgauss and an Air King and they do sit slightly higher due to the inner iron case that encompasses the movement but the slightly shorter and curved endlinks along with the bracelet make it very comfortable especially the bracelet on the Milgauss..

Yes, you are correct, maybe it's in my head but the Milgauss just seems more comfy to me. I you get a chance try them on.

I'm interested to know this too! Does anyone have a case back height comparison photo of the Milgauss vs. a Sub/SD?

That would be awesome! If you would be so kind, I'd be really interested in that. I wouldn't even know how to start doing it myself!

Hahaha, what can I say. I'm a nerd and numbers excite me.
Thank you, sir! Enjoy!

Yes, the Milgauss is a thicker case. It’s 13.5mm thick.
Both the GMT-Master II and the Explorer II are 12mm. Last edited by RolexComplex; 24 May 2018 at 07:07 PM.. Reason: Typo |

This is very interesting, and I'm surprised that the Subs are not that much thicker than the GMTs. Of the course the Daytona is just super sleek! When I get a chance, I'll take off the bracelets of my Milgauss and GMT-Master, as well as a friend's Explorer II, and I'll try to take profile photos of the case back on a flat surface to get a feel for how much space is between the wrist and the outer edges of the case back on each watch. I'm convinced the watches with higher case backs -- while they do not fit well under shirt cuffs -- do wear more comfortably!
