Trade advice : Do or Do Not

I am really on the fence regarding a trade. I would need to get rid of 4 of my watches to get this one, its a PP Nautilus 5712R.

I would need to trade :
AP safari
Hulk
Daytona
BLNR

I love the Nautilus but am screwed trying to justify getting rid of 4 pieces for 1. I haven't been able to grasp the reality of that. I need help!

Let me know what you all think.

If it were me, I would sell two of your four watches and save the money to make up the difference. You would then end up with 3. 4 for 1 is a big jump, unless you absolutely love the 5712 beyond belief.

PS: Hope things are going well, Ash. Have a great New Years.

It's worth it if you think you'll get more wear and enjoyment out of the new one watch than you were with the old four. Also to me would depend on what else you have. If these are just four of a larger collection and none of them are your absolute favorite pieces but the Nautilus would just be the most amazing thing to you then I'd say go for it!

I like variety, so I have 5 watches between $3k and $8k, instead of one watch at $25k. I wouldn't trade all mine for a Nautilus. But if I had 10 instead if probably trade half for it. :) As long as the trade didn't include anything with really strong sentimental value.

You'd be giving up a lot for one watch, but having said that, if the PP is really calling your name .....

One thought too, is that the PP is perhaps not as rugged a daily wearer as your Rolex ... I do not say this from experience but just from what I've read here on his forum.

Good luck deciding, tough call.

I wouldn't do it, you have too many nice pieces to trade for 1.

Keep the 3 rollies; liquidate the AP and save up for the rest.

Depend how big your collection is. If you only have this existing 4, I would say No. Save up and flip the later on. If you have like 7 or 8, by all means go ahead. The 5712R is stunning.

I love the PP and in Rose gold just sings to me. These watches are apart of a larger collection but will still miss them. Well, the only one I would really miss would be the BLNR.

Thanks for the response and advice!

I think the PP is a great all around. I would consider my SD as the rugged watch!

I would have to keep at least 1 of the rolex.

That Patek doesn't have the versatility to take the place of all your rolex

This is good advice as well. The problem is the delta is about 30k if I was to just sell them one!!!

I would still have some watches to keep the winder in business! I also don't think I would truly miss the few I let go, just the BLNR

Agree with trade 3 and maybe keep the BLNR...the 5712R is amazing and in a different league.
I'm in the same boat considering trading 3-4 watches for an ALS. Problem is like you, I'd certainly miss some of my watches.

Side note I saw a 5712R for sale with the Tiffany dial. Does this command a premium?

I think over time will be more rare than others because of the dial!

As others have said for me it would depend on how many watches you have. It would be hard for me to just have one!

I dont see why you cant trade 4 for 1. This is how the market is calling it. So be it, do it!
You can always buy them again.

Oh easy one here. Do it. None of your watches are rare or difficult to acquire and frankly pale in comparison to a Patek. Especially a rose gold Nautilus...you're talking about a different level here.

I had the 5712r. Key word is "had". So for me, it wouldn't be worth trading yourvery nice watches.

Ouch. I couldnt let go of all 4. Each is a classic in its own right. Maybe sell the AP and the Hulk or Daytona?

I would definitely keep the BLNR. Dump the other 3. You might find you'll miss having an AP though

Totally agree. Keep the Daytona.

If I was pondering doing the same, I would get rid of two from the collection and save the rest of the money.

I would trade 2 plus cash for the Patek and pause for a month or so. If the 2 you kept are not getting any wrist time and you are out of that honeymoon phase, sell one more. Pause and repeat. The BLNR is one I would keep.

You will still need a robust watch. So, keep at least one of the Rolex.
