RG advice & inspiration needed

Evening everyone,

a long-time lurker has now finally signed up. Thanks for the very useful content so far. Maybe you can help me?

I am in desperate need of a RG PP to round off my collection. I am mostly wearing suits. So far, my thoughs circulate around these:

- 5196R with black matte strap
- 5296R Sector Dial with deep navy blue strap
- 5119R with regular factory strap

I have not looked at 5000R and 6000R yet.

So, what are your views on these reference numbers?

It is indeed quite an intriguing watch. It looks much more delicate in real life than on internet pics, where the (larger) PP logo looks often a bit like Comic Sans.

Now the difficult question - would you flip a YG 16518 (=Zenith Daytona on a black leather strap) for a 5296R?

My thought is that you should definitely consider the 5227R.

IŽll leave posting pictures to Mike.

In that case, I'd go 5127r or 5296r.

5296r is a cool looking watch. I too was craving a rose gold dressier watch and that lead me to this. Best

The sector dial does not do much for me.

The 5205 is a great watch, and one of the annual calendars I am considering, in addition to the 5146 series. I just happen to love power reserve indicators, and that is the only thing I wish the 5205 had.

Also looking at the 5227.

When looking at ACs I had actually narrowed my choices down to the 5396 and the 5205G. I too like a power reserve indicator but in truth have never found to be very useful and there were too many things I personally don't like on the 5146 (date display not in windows, lume on hands and font of 3, 9 and 12)..... When the 5205R black dial was released, the rose gold case paired with the black dial sealed the deal for me.

The PP 5205 should be considered! I know that the PP 5980 is not in consideration but here is another look at PP Rose Gold.........

Out of your choices, I'd go 5296R or even better 5205R.

Hi, 5205 and any kind of Nautilus are no-nos.

Why do you think the 5296R would be "it"?

Personally, if not the 5227 than the 5127.
I think that the flat bezel of the 5296 is too prone to getting scratched

Awesome photos Mike

Is the bezel concaved similar to the 5205?

Because of the angle? Or do you mean that on a flat bezel scratches are much more visible?

Yes, the bezel is very flat on the 5296 which is the same for the 5107. And so imo you are more likely to catch it.

I have a 5127R with a rounder bezel and so far so............
