I prefer National because
(1) my company pays,
(2) most rental places have the executive isle where I just pick a car and go. I skip the massive line, no inspection or check sheet, just hand my license at the toll both and I am done in 5 min start to finish
(3) I still get credit with their other rental companies (domestic or international)

That said I've had my run-ins, ex. at Paris CDG having the return employee try to charge me 350 euro for a missing luggage cover. Perhaps the email I sent to the regional manager that they didn't bother to reply explaining my recurring rental history helped....I wasn't ultimately charged for it.

While reading about the price comments - does $186/week for a midsize SUV sound high?
That's what I pay on GoldPlus for MIA. Of course different airports have different rates...

Customer service is terrible these days. After being a regular Avis customer for 10 years I recently got fed up and will never use them again.

$186/week for a midsize SUV is an incredible rate for anything above an economy car, especially this time of year.

Is this through their website or a discount site? What are the dates?

That rental already happened. Spring break week in MIA.
Anyone can get such a discount when booking via Delta and GoldPlus.

Two weeks ago, I rented a Nissan Murano, which I believe is premium crossover category, from National at MIA. Paid $310 for the week including taxes and a child seat

She has your personal info and was asking how far away you were going to be and for how long.
No thanks. I would've been wary also.

Really dislike dealing with rental companies...used Silvercar on my last trip and really liked it.
