I know this is the Rolex forum. but I was hoping I could get everyones opinion on the Omega Speedmaster Professional. Do you guys like this watch? is it a good buy at 4k? would you add it to your collection?

Absolutely! Good to diversify a collection, plus the coax movement is impressive too imho. Rolex Milligaus is 1000 gauss resistant and COSC, wheras the below OMEGA is 15,000 gauss and METAS. Just looked that up and was surprised at the huge difference.
Love my Rolexs, wonderful timepieces. OMEGA Speedy adds an excellent diversity to your collection and has glorious history too if you're a NASA fan.

How can one not love a Speedmaster?
Not only a great value but also probably has the coolest history of any current watch. |

Speedy pro and submariner are the two watches everyone should have IMO.
Also, save a few bucks and get the hesalite crystal. Makes it more like what went to the moon and gives you something that you really don’t see in many watches. |

Had a reduced. Made a groomsmen gift of it. Would definitely add a manual wind to my collection

When I started to get into watches a few years ago, i didn’t think much of the speedmaster. It has really grown on me through the years and is on list for future purchases.

When I think of Omega....I see..
Unlimited limited editions - dilutes the brand Little to no luxury recognition Almost all models lose value Inferior style compared to Rolex So no, I would not spend my money on a Speedmaster.... |

IMO - The historical aspect is special, and necessary in a collection.

I’d take a Speedmaster over a modern Daytona any day. I really dislike the dials on the Daytona’s. The rings around the sundials look too bling in my opinion.

I also have a Speedmaster Professional. I put it on the NATO Strap. Adds another dimension to the lineup.

I gotta be honest the whole moon thing makes me like it less, it is so unstoppable in your face about the watch it feels overblown/corny to me. The only reason I buy them is because I love how they look and how versatile they are, and I always want at least one chronograph and am not a big daytona fan. If the speedy didn't have the whole moon campaign around it I'd prob still have it.

Got mine last weekend. Versatility, history, comfort, legibility-it has it all.

I still really like some of the watches, and the Speedmaster is one, but I would like them better if they would ease up on the cheesy marketing.

I'm struggling with the idea of buying one again after selling mine some years ago.

But just like Leica with its M, they keep doing it because they know it's an iconic product and they can get away with it. |

I'm not particularly a fan of the Moonwatch but am a fan of the Speedmaster Racing. For chrono's I only like ones with motorsports motif/heritage and even the Speedmaster satisfies that for me.

acquired one a few months back. I love the legibility of it; better to me than the Daytona. It is my second manual wind watch and I love the romance and sense of connection this task adds, though it can be a bit of a challenge for large fingers. Wears very comfortably. I hesitated buying this watch for years for several of the reasons listed above. In the end I bought a used/unworn copy for a significant discount off MSRP and based on pricing of used models, and can't believe I didn't pull this trigger earlier.

Definitely! The speedmaster is a true classic and still looks amazing given how little has changed aesthetically over the years. I’m planning on picking one up soon.

Nonetheless, I am probably a late bloomer, I am recently trying to source a 60th anniversary piece. |
