Watch brands shoot themselves from their own foot with this false pricing and limited edition strategies. Dont want to say but the winner is become Rolex in the end...

Looks good. Bezel inserts appear to have remained black. I'm happy about that.

Thanks!

My dealer tempting me with a set (1/100). But not sure if worth it at around USD19.5K.

SRP of the three separately just at USD17.6K.

Looks nice though. I agree.

The set has a earlier launch date, May 22nd than the rest. I wonder if the number 1-100 are reserved for box sets or another 100 pcs

Yes. The first 100 will be reserved for the boxed sets. 101-1100 will be for loose watches.

I haven't seen their Tropic in person but see what you mean on the square edge.
It is a gimmick. I sell rubber straps that do not have this smell. The new Isofrane's also do not have the natural rubber smell either.

I have a 6 year old blue Isofrane that still smells like a floozy. The black versions did not stink as bad.

Understandable. Those box sets aren't exactly cheap.

Ahh, mine smells good but it's black. Tons of dive time on it though so maybe the saltwater took some of the punch out.

I wonder if they changed the rubber formula. The description on their site is different from what I remember.

I'll wait until the '37 shows up before buying anything else. Might have to anyway with flights starting to be restricted.

I am not sure. I do know I am glad there are other options out there now.

My AD says they will arrive second week of July. Waiting to see them in person. I like the 37 but the 39 and the 41 might be better fits for my 7.5-7.75 inch wrist. I look forward to a member getting one and giving us a review.

These might be slow to move initially because of the price point, which is high at around $6K, but there's a lot to love here. I really liked the SLA017 re-issue, but this looks more special with that blue dial and the better movement. They'll all sell eventually, of course, and then there won't be anymore. I realize 1,100 is quite a large limited edition, but it's limited nonetheless.

I love them both, too, but I prefer the grey of the 17. Wish I'd jumped on the bandwagon then, but I hadn't (yet) really got Seiko on the radar.

17 didn’t stick with me. I prefer the blue/grey dial and the new steel and movt somewhat justify the price. Somewhat....

good to know! do you find a noticeable difference with the different steel? the color, or just the weight/feel?

$6k for a Seiko is too much for a Seiko for me. And I love Seiko.

I hear you, but this isn't just a regular Seiko. It's a limited edition that is more like a Grand Seiko, which can go much higher than $6K, of course. Throw in the stunning blue dial and the vintage look/proportions from the original 1965 Seiko diver, and I think the price becomes a little easier to justify. Just a little though.

I bought a SLA017 when it first came out and always regretted selling it. (Needed the cash to fund another purchase.) I just loved the feel and look of the watch. That high domed crystal alone was almost reason enough to buy one. This new version, the SLA037, takes it to another level of refinement, with the better steel, higher-end movement (37 vs. 26 jewels, whatever that's worth), more appealing dial color (subjective) and better strap. At the same time, it still looks like a classic vintage tool watch. I might have to get one, price notwithstanding. I don't think they'll last long at dealers.

Here's a look at both versions.

When I see both versions side by side very much prefer the 017. considering the 039 though as I never vibed with the 025 gilt. Need to complete the trilogy.....but $6,800 is STEEP
