That’s a bit shit after they claimed the last ever defenders to be built rolled off the production line in Jan 2016

I would so scoop one up if it were available in the US. It's awesome if for nothing else than its novelty.

For that kind of scratch I think I'd rather have an AMG G63.

I think you can get a loaded G63 G wagon for what they want for that Defender.

I’d much rather have the Defender. The original G Wagons are cool, but I’d be embarrassed to drive one, especially a new one.

Maybe a Maybach S-650 then?

Sure, it’s much less vulgar than the G Wagon.

The G wagon looks pretty cool in desert camo. But the Maybach is an incredible car. The Defender seems pretty over priced.

A friend in Dubai bought a 30 year old Defender and dropped a new Corvette engine into it. With the suspension and transmission upgrades, the whole project cost around $100k and was way more powerful than this $200k Defender.

It's actually quite amazing that something shaped like a house can do the 0-60 in 5.6 seconds.

As Tom said though, it'll dissolve faster than an aspirin. I'd buy a 300 bhp 3 series BM for £40k and trouser £110k for a rainy day.

I don’t disagree with the merits or performance of all the other options. The Defender stirs an emotional desire for one in my brain, not a rational one. I still want one.

Ditto.

I think I'm going to get the next gen g-wagon that they just announced when it hits shore this coming fall. Not the AMG version though (too flashy), the G 550 or 500. I want off-road. Black with black rims...

The Defender (original) is an amazing truck though. I cannot wait to see what LR comes up with for the next generation. We've been waiting forever to find out - hopefully they'll reveal something soon.

I like the older G Wagons that were basic, non-luxury SUVs. The modern G Wagon is still a very capable SUV, but its focus is on luxury. And the average G Wagon owner? Yea, sorry, but I don't want to be a part of that group.

I would never buy a car because of what others think, nor would I not buy one because of what others think. If you're going to drop that kind of coin on a ride, you should love it and not give a sh1t who else owns one.

For $200K I think I could just about build that gas turbine-hybrid F350 I've always wanted.
