Interesting article but I don't see a lot of millennial's wearing watches unless its a apple watch they all use their phones

I am a millennial and am in to watches. I will say that the vast majority of people 35 and younger are not saving their money for a real watch. Very few will use their bonus to buy a celebratory Rolex.

My two cents on the article, is that FINALLY high end brands are looking back at steel, and Rolex is no exception. Just look at the SkyDweller....if this was ten years ago, it would be available ONLY in PM.

In the end, I do believe that we -consumers- will benefit.

I'm a millennial and I like mechanical watches. Not a fan of "tech" watches at all... Looking at that article, higher end brands bringing SS models to the table opens up more opportunities for me so I'm not going to complain. A PM watch is nice but definitely outside of my target range for now...

I think for many of the younger folks, there are other big expense items that get in the way of throwing down cash for watches like buying a home, having kids, and/or buying nicer cars...

The Baume & Mercier and Vacheron Constantine models targeted towards for the Millennial market are nice-looking watches. Whether they are successful from the sales standpoint remains to be seen.

So in lieu of a lower-tiered Rolex line, do the Tudor offerings fulfill this market niche for Rolex SA?

Student loans and rent are an issue for me. I wonder if the average white collar 35 yo is “poorer” today than 20 or 30 years ago.

Could be. At last years U.S. Bouldering National Championship in Colorado, Tudor was there as a sponsor. Millennials pretty much dominate the rock climbing community. They had watch demos, advertising and gave away all kinds of Tudor swag.

The Rolex Futura (or similar) is coming, sooner or later, like it or not, it’s coming. A mixing of two worlds.

CNN lol. That's a another topic on it's own.

As for the watches. I think if any brand can bring something to the table that is affordable and has a timeless style will be great. There are plenty of channels on youtube that are bringing to light even simple Seiko watches, both old and new, that are an inexpensive way to enjoy horology. If people can appreciate a piece for its quality and history, I feel like they'll enjoy any piece. It's the ones that just have to have "X" brand on their wrist, or spend "x" amount on it. If those are your only qualifications for owning a watch, I don't think we'll see eye to eye on the subject.

They didn’t touch on anything really substantial, as far as
the powerhouse horology hitters ...
Personally, I don’t need a watch to take the place of my
MacBook even if it is an Apple swatch!!!
I’ll be just fine with my rub a dub dub I Love my Sub!!!

a gold rolex bought on the 2ndary market is the greatest bargain in the watch industry. just compare it to other top brands.
