Differences between Rolex Datejust 1603 and 16030?
As far as I can tell from googling about.. the differences are..
1. 1603 has older mechanism 2. 16030 has quick date 3. 16030 with black dial has larger lettering Any other differences? |

Dial is slightly diff on the outside edge. The 16xx series have the "pie pan" dials. Not a bad thing. I kinda like the pie pan look. Also an upgraded bracelet on the 16xxx series. You get a solid link bracelet instead of the hollow folded links. I have a 16030 w/silver dial now, but a black dial 1603 was my first Rolex 15 yrs ago

So the bracelet on the 16xxx is still a Jubille design but solid - any differences in finish, and i assume heavier?

Also the 1603 has the original Rolex acrylic crystal, while the 16030 has the sapphire crystal. While the former will scratch (requiring occasional gentle polishing), the latter is practically impervious to simple scratches. That said, however, sapphire crystals shatter more easily than the acrylic ones which have a bit more malleable play when hit hard.
