No watches in this pic but here's some of my other obsession. Watches and Guitars obviously. The Silver Sky is quite spectacular

Not to mention John Mayer and I share the same birthday. Yeah I know some think he's a douche but he's a helluva musician and an absolute watch enthusiast to say the least

Yeah, sometimes I frighten myself.

I will post my orchestral uptight, flatwound and modern bass as soon as I get back to my home base.

I am lucky enough to be able to persue my tone.

More pics to follow, just not of me.

I'll bet you would...lol..

Back story on that guitar...
I'm a professional musician..and a jazz guitar player friend on mine..his son had a friend living in a Latino ghetto..that had a guitar that was sitting under his bed for over a decade that he didnt know what to do with..
His father ordered a brand new guitar around 1961..and he died not long after receiving it..so it was essentially.. NOS.
So the kid asked my friend the jazz guitar player to evaluate it..he said it had a weird name..De...something...
We all met up at Dennies for a midnight breakfast (this is what musicians do after gigs...lol)..and then the kid came in..swinging the guitar case around before opening it up...
This was in the mid 1980's..
Then the waters parted..and low and behold..there it was..brand spankin new..
A guitar builder at the table w/us offered him 4K right on the spot for it..but the kid refused..as this was his departed fathers guitar..and he didnt want to sell..for any price..
Then he shopped it around to get a bearing on the price....and a music store offered him 8K for it..
But he was still refused..
By the time he found out the real price a few months later..if sold in Japan at that time..they would have paid a cool 1/4 million for it..
But that was before the vintage guitar market crashed..its worth less today..
But this guitar still lies in a Latino ghetto..under his bed..unplayed..
And BTW..my friend the jazz guitar player..said..not all of these guitars play well..but this one..plays great..
But he could never afford it..

that's an incredible story and a stunning guitar. last year i got to handle a late-model d'angelico that was truly something to behold. i'm a big archtop fan and hope to own a ken parker archtop someday. big fan of manzer guitars as well. d'aquisto was also something else, studying under/apprenticing d'angelico of course.

More like Rolex = PRS.

With Gibson's QC problems, they are more like Seiko

EDIT: I have a Seiko Baby Snowflake that I really like.

LOL I'm not trying to ruffle feathers. I've owned a lot of Gibsons, and they are great guitars with a fantastic history. Gibson vs PRS is kinda like Army vs Navy. It's just a good-natured rivalry.

The truly sad part is how mismanagement at Gibson has led to consistent QC problems in their guitars resulting in loss of market share. They have been in and out of bankruptcy, and as a guitarist (and a Gibson fan), that's not good for the industry.

Agreed. Being a lefty, I rarely get to sample fine guitars. Most of the time I buy used and sell quickly. My Firebird will stay around, but I've had a few Gibson's make quick exits.

I was similarly unimpressed by a MIM Telecaster. Then tried an American Tele and thought the MIM was better. So I just quit Fender altogether and ordered a custom G&L.

Now that I'm in NOVA, I plan on taking a tour at PRS soon. I hope that isn't an expensive visit.

Now if only I could play worth a crap.

I don't play nearly as much as I used to, but this Custom 22 was my first big purchase in my life at 15 years old. The one guitar and one watch I will never get rid of.
