About to pull the trigger on this 114270. Can I get a confirmation it is unpolished?

Hello, i've been looking for a 114270 for a while now.
I have located one now and have it on hold for me for a day.
The seller has told me it is unpolished. I am by no means an expert on checking for this and would like some opinions on if it is unpolished or not. I have uploaded a fair few pictures and even if you could take a look at 1 or 2 shots and let me know, that would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance,

Cloit.

Always hard to tell from pictures with any 'confirmation' but the watch head looks pretty good. Lots of finger print smear in the pictures. The bracelet looks too clean to not have been brushed. And the brush pattern looks a little heavy to me. But I think overall it looks like a nice watch. I'd see no reason to pass on this one based on the finish.

By "unpolished", do you mean "not over polished"? To me that's the real question. And I would say, no, it's not over polished, has thick lugs and looks great.

Be real, that watch is over 10 years old. Unless it was preserved in a time capsule, its been refinished.

I just picked one of these up and would be happy if that was the example I landed.

You'll love it

After seeing the crown on the clasp, the bracelet has definitely been brushed, but not a deal breaker for me.

People wear watches for 20+ years that have never been polished. It’s not uncommon. I never care about bracelets getting touched up. Couple thousands bucks and you have a NOS brand new bracelet. One the case gets touched, i have no interest.

Looks like an honest watch to me. I would consider buying as long as all documents are in order and service has been carried out correctly if it was needed. The bracelet may have been brushed but I don't see that as an issue.

Would say the case brushing is original, the clasp has definitely been brushed though.

What difference does it make? If it has been done correctly, it enhances the aesthetics of a used watch. If you want a watch that records your history of ownership, buy a new one and never have it polished. Then you may be able to proudly remember how that scrape on the clasp was caused by a fall after too many Margaritas, whoopee.

Nothing the matter with a skilled polish.

The watch looks good.

I don’t doubt a watch can go 20 years without being polished. The part I doubt is that it would look that new afterwards. So if it looks that good, it’s probably been touched up somehow... no longer unpolished.

My comment points out that;

-It’s probably been polished
-It doesn’t matter if it’s been polished IF it’s done right.
-Polishing a watch has somehow become unacceptable.

Have to agree this polish thing is now reaching epidemic proportions if any polish is done correctly fact Rolex watches are designed to be polished .

Yeah, I guess it's not a deal breaker for me. However I will be paying a little extra as it's advertised as unpolished.

Cheers, to my extremely untrained eye the case looks pretty sharp but the bracelet (rolex crown) looks a little smoother than my unpolished explorer II

Looks great!! Maybe add some scratches and prove it's not been polished.
