Servicing my Explorer II 16570

I’m looking for some advice on my Explorer II, 16570, 40mm. I bought it new about 20 years ago but only recently had it serviced. I wore it daily and it ran great for all those years, but was getting a little slow plus beat up so I took it to my AD in Oregon, USA. After service it came back running fast by about 60 seconds per day. I took it back and they serviced it again and it still ran fast about 60 seconds per day. So they sent it to a Rolex specialist in California for another service. Got it back and it’s still fast by about the same amount per day after regular wear for two weeks.

I’m planning to go back and ask for another service by the specialist, but am now wondering just how unusual this is? Should I reasonably expect this to be fixed on the fourth try or just accept that this beautiful old watch is now really fast. My AD has offered to refund the fee, but they have been great, I don’t want to burn any bridges and they have done a ton of work on it. Did I exacerbate this by not having it serviced for 20 years even though it ran fine?

Thanks for the expert advice.

No, that is completely unacceptable. I would think that if magnetism isn't the culprit, it could be knocking. Basically, that means there is too much power coming through the train.

This can be remedied in a couple of different ways. If it isn't right the fourth time around, I would get my money back and try elsewhere.

Send your 16570 to an RSC and I'm sure they are goiing to take a good care of your watch.
