S/S Yachtmaster-II 2017- masterpiece.

I’m not going to bore anyone with my entire watch history but the Rolex Yachtmaster II as an SS model had always been a watch I thought I would get at some point. Well that point has been reached. It’s everything I thought it would be and much much more. A true Rolex masterpiece imo and the true halo model amongst the SS models imo YMMV.

File attached.

Congrats! Rolex’s crowing glory. Both yacht masters are highly underrated. I think the future will be kinder to them.

Cheers all.

It’s the little things that are big things with this watch.

First is the 44mm diameter. I love big watches and this outdoes the 43mm runner up easily in wrist presence imo.

The Mercedes hands, which Rolex lover can deny it? While I would have probably been happy with baton or blue-baton hands I love the Mercedes hands. It’s amongst the most illegible watches I own but that’s sort of the point - who cares about the actual time when wearing this one. The hands connect it to the sport line at once. This is the form I think it will be discontinued in.

The pushers worked with 2 and 3 rings indicating number of functions for each button. Top 2 : start / stop. Bottom 3 : set timer / flyback-forward / reset.

The movement is the most complex Rolex makes. Enough said.

The timer is actually useful. I have frequent things I need to time for billing purposes and this is a fantastic tool for me for just running my business. The functions are easily accessible. No unscrewing of pushers. I own chronograph watches and have rarely activated them. The YM-II gets used daily very often.

It’s incredibly eye catching. It never fails to be a vision magnet.

Congrats! it's a stand out watch for sure. I was watching the Eagles game last Sunday and one of the coaches was wearing one, even quick shots of the sideline and it pops right up.

Congratulations it’s a polarizing reference for sure, but no denying it has wrist presence like few others.

As for complications, I think the SkyDweller gives it a run

I recently switched back to wearing this over my Hulk. It really is a beautiful watch. I don't see too many in the wild, either (I think only one time in 3+ years).

Please, can anyone advise me on how to post a new post? I do not see a link/button for that. Thanks so much!!
BTW, big fan of SS YM2. I own the previous model with blue hands. Anything with a 2 seems to get my attention for some reason lol DD2 is my fav.

If I didn’t like the Daytona and the Deepsea so much I would certainly own one of these. It looks great. It’s also an unusual chronograph and was the precursor to the command feature of the Skydweller. A significant watch in Rolex history.
