RIP Jim Marshall
One of the pioneers of instrument amplification, and a hero to countless guitar players. As a bass player, his stuff did not have a lot of interest for me personally, but he left an indelible mark on the sound of popular music and is a legend to guitarists. Age 88.

Bass player here too and Marshall never came up with good bass gear IMO,but guitar amps were good.

I think one of the problems is that Marshalls were geared toward distortion at very loud volumes, which is great for guitars, but not for bass. Similarly, companies like Ampeg, Trace Elliot, Sunn, etc, weren't very successful building guitar amps

I own two Marshall amps as well as three pedals and I must say I've never been that satisfied about the sound that came out of my guitars! May Jim Marshall rest in peace and I shall remember him as a great asset of the music world.

RIP to the man who set the sound of a generation or two of guitarists - brought back valve amps when everyone thought they'd been terribly clever inventing transistors and was a great chap and a decent human being.

I have been thinking of Jim Marshall on the anniversary of his death, and I came across this old thread. It's impossible to overstate this man's impact on rock n roll. RIP to the Father of Loud.
I thought I'd post my treasured JMP (slightly modded).
