Lance Thomas Watch Company

Anyone done business with Lance Thomas? http://www.watchcompany.com/ Of particular interest to me is the selection of "genuine" Rolex buckles for leather straps. An internet search reveals Mr. Thomas has an interesting past, having fatally shot at least five robbers in his store.

A tiny little problem

http://www.watchcompany.com/items/12...9780store.html

This item is $129.00 for a Rolex Buckle and crocodile strap? Price is about $500.00 'too low.'

The problem is that the crocodile is Italian (non-Rolex) and the buckle is marked "ACIER INOX".

If the buckle were 18K, it would be marked as such.(18K or .750 ) If it were gold-plated, it would be marked "PLAQUES".

ACIER INOX loosely means 'stainless steel.'

If you want genuine Rolex strap and buckle, the only place where you might get them is a Rolex Authorized Distributor.

NOTE: These phony ACIER INOX buckles are available in quantity for less than 5 bucks apiece if you know where to look.

I would be interested in seeing a rebuttal to the information above...

Good info....thanks. I also see they have a combo strap/buckle at a higher price. http://www.watchcompany.com/items/12...0371store.html All the straps I've seen do say "made in Italy" so they are indeed not Rolex. And.....I see some buckles that are marked ".750" and advertised as 18K gold/Rolex. They are priced in the $200 range. What do you make of these items?

I bought a genuine Rolex crocodile band from a Rolex AD and paid market price for it. I decided not to get the 18K buckle due to the cost. I tried in vain to get a Rolex buckle aftermarket. For practical purposes, there are so few genuine Rolex buckles on the aftermarket, it isn't worth trying.

Note: I ruined the strap within days of the purchase... MY fault... so I got a Hornback crock strap and plain-jane buckle.

What you should do, if you want a genuine band and buckle, is go to a Rolex AD and get their price. You may be a tiny bit shocked... but you will get the real deal. Anywhere else, you are likely to get a fake.

Agree....tried to get one from an AD and was told he could sell me the strap but the buckle was a different matter. I would have to turn the "old buckle" back to Rolex. My problem is that I don't have one. Oh well.......

Lance Thomas sold me a Rolex bracelet for $5665, I paid him promptly through PayPal and he refused to send it.

He is at best dishonest and whacky and at worst a complete con artist. Do not do business with him.

This is awful! Were you able to recoup the money?
