Thoughts on this gold royal oak chrono?

https://www.audemarspiguet.com/com/e...1256OR.01.html

I’m contemplating buying it. Wonder a little why the gray market offers it very close to the retail price.

Any ideas anyone? Compared to 15500or etc

Honestly...I’m not too sure why the ROC is priced modestly compared to other ROs but my guess is because of its lack of in-house movement and clear case back. Both of which have been rectified with the latest ROC. Buying a non in-house movement is really a gamble at this point, with it possibly turning out similar to the Zenith Daytona and go up exponentially in value or it might go down with people preferring the new ROC (which has a thicker case and awkward date position). So it really could go both ways with the ROC

These are the new releases this year just few weeks ago. But the new movements are only available in rose gold.

My guess is that the relatively modest premium for this model comes from a combination of factors: size is a bit on the small side for current tastes in men's watches (although it wears pretty similar to a Daytona), white dials for most APs are the ones with the least hype and some people look for an in-house movement. Also for the 41mm SS side, the ROC has not (yet?) followed the RO premiums. Add the not insubstantial price, and there you go.

I bet if this watch was 1mm bigger, with slightly less bracelet taper and a blue dial it would as hot as anything right now.

Assume the market has misplaced this and get one before it becomes totally unavailable.

I’ve tried this at a boutique pre-covid. It’s a stunner but did not pull the trigger as I wanted a ss look which I can wear more often. It definitely pops!

I think a part of the reason it hasn't shot up in value is due to it being 38mm.
