I ended up selling (or giving away to my kids) my: SS Pepsi, 2 ss Daytonas, Sea Dweller, ss ceramic sub date,YY ceramic blue sub, tt datejust, Breitling, Seamaster and Omega.
All I kept was my SS YM2. It is a great piece and my everyday watch.

PS- I took a beating on the Omega and the Breitling in resale value. Good watches but almost worthless on the secondary market! I ended up giving away the Omega to my BIL.

Wow! Some great choices you made, congrats!
I appriciate this that you gave some of your watches: you’ve made some people very very happy! I think the hardest thing is to truly follow your heart with watches (and everything else..). Very easily one gets lured in getting&owning these ”hot” models—just because they are hard to get.
The YMII is amazing watch—one of my favourites! And I am actually wearing the 10 minutes countdown on a regular basis!

I love the YM. All versions are stunning in the metal and you rarely see them out in the wild.

Aside from the aesthetics, I am baffled by the practicality of the (very expensive) function in my everyday plebian life.

My wife, who has great style and judgement thinks the YG YM II is a great looking piece and has tried to talk me into it more than once. My girl at my AD is obviously on her side as well but so far I’ve been able to resist.

It actually looks great on, the name on the bezel just seems like too much to me.

Rolex is sooo conservative in their style that it rubs off of their buyer as the YM2 is different from the Sub and most want “need” their Rolex to be the most recognized. I believe the YM2 owner understands this and purposely doesn’t want to be one of the 30 million that wear the most recognized models and wants to stand apart from the herd. There is logic in both views. Conservative and staying safe is a way to go but being bold and different has its own appeal. It’s a personality choice.

It looks even bigger than it is, which is quite something. But personally i dislike it because I have absolutely no need for a regatta timer. I don't race regattas. Other complications can be useful in real life for me, but this one is extraordinarily useless.

Looking sharp Chaser! It's a big watch obviously but it seems well proportioned on your wrist! Enjoy it!

I’d consider a white gold YM2 in time

It's each to their own my friend. You will never get a uniform response here. I love the YMII in SS. I went out and bought one straight away in 2013 when it launched and still wear it now. It's a stunning watch and it really draws a lot of admirers. If you like it, go buy it. Who cares what other people think. And prices are much more sensible as it's not for everyone, so you won't have to pay silly money over list to get one. That's a good thing.

Maybe he meant that future trend would finally appreciate Rolex vision for the YM2 and it becomes sought after in the same manner as the Daytona.

If I was competing in Regatta or following the yacht sports as a fan I would totally wear one. It’s a great conversation starter and would add some fresh vibe to any personal style.

It's just ugly. Do you race a yacht or sailboat of any kind? I do. We don't use that watch because its not good for that function. Way back, we used a TAG Heuer racing timer. It was not a watch. Why buy a yacht timer/watch if you don't own a watch, don't race, and it's not good for the task it's labelled for?

I always wondered whether it actually serves its function or is it just symbolic. So you say it doesn’t, care to elaborate?

Glad you don’t own one! I’m sure the watches you own IMG_1154.JPGgot your attention when you first saw them. We should buy watches that we love to admire and look at when we wear it.

No I don’t race a yacht or sailboat. I have a stainless steel Daytona but I don’t race nascar cars either. Never even used the chronograph feature. Why buy it? Because I like watches that are unique and enjoy looking at whenever I wear it. Plain and simple.

Getting both below market price makes ownership even sweeter.
