RSC creates a 7-digit (pic heavy)

Just kidding of course. Decided to have the RSC Dallas do a full service on my 2008 LN, including polishing. I think any normal customer would be thrilled with the results. Of course, let's face it, no one reading this is normal. I give it an 8/10.

Instructed them to do a light polish, leaving dings and dents if it would compromise the crisp case lines. They ignored this completely. I'm guessing they have two gears: no polish or full polish!

I'm not really upset though. Overall it's a decent job. I actually like the slimmer lug profile, sitting somewhere between a 6-digit and 5-digit case. But the case edges are all just slightly soft. If I could do over, I'd probably go for the movement service, no polish, or take directly to LAWW or Rolliworks (might still do so, to crisp up the outer case edges).

On the movement side, 10/10. The watch is running +0.5/day.

Cheers. It's taken the overall dimensions of thing down by maybe 1-2%. But makes a difference!

Are you saying the lugs are noticeably slimmer as a result of the polishing? Surely any metal loss would be imperceptible?

Only noticeable if you put it right beside a brand new LN or BLNR. Then you can see a difference. They polished out a reasonable sized dent on one lug then synched everything up so the end lugs are noticeably smaller. Pic attached, new BLNR on right. It's now a not-so-super Case. But again, I think it looks pretty good!

I don’t have the RSC polish my watch anymore during service. I learned my lesson years ago.

Yours looks good though.

I wouldn't have issue with that polish job. It is a bit annoying though to ask for one thing and get another.

Thanks. Not bad for an 11-year-old daily driver at the end of the day.

Very interesting comparison photo. They’ve taken a large amount of metal. I never would’ve thought it would be that much.

Whilst I agree that the watch looks perfectly good, the issue is more that they did the exact opposite of what you specifically asked for. It doesn’t engender confidence.

These green LN is a modern classic and collectable and it's probably only green GMT wording in SS ever made for a long time. Thankful that I own one too.

Only way to keep them perfect is by locking them in a safe and that's not nearly as enjoyable as wearing them and putting a few marks on the case.

2 more services at RSC and you will have perfectly proportional case . This was the Rolex Great Strategy, 5-digit would be ruined after such polishing job, 6-digit starts to look good .

Looks exactly like my 116710 did when it came back from service in dec’ 2018. Overall the polish job seemed very good, but the softer edges were noticeable to me as they are with your pics

I think I was too nuanced. RSC understands "don't polish" or "polish" - not sure there's an in-between. I'm OK with the outcome.

Not to mention with an oyster bracelet!

They definitely had multiple services in mind when they went to the supercase. I look at my Daytona and wonder how in the world those thin lugs will survive a single service.

My 114060 is ready for a service and I’ll probably send it within the next few months..... I’ve been debating the polish vs no polish question, looking at your pics has me leaning towards polish. It looks good.
