If you don't get the job because of your watch you don't want to work for this guy or company anyway. I'd run from a place where they judge you by your watch bro.
Just my $0.02

My sentiments exactly! If the question was asked then there is at least a small degree of uncertainty by the OP of the downsides , so why take that risk even if small? Just skip it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

What did you decide for the interview? It would be great to hear your thoughts and how things went.

Don't wear it
You have nothing to gain by wearing it and everything to lose Sure, it wouldn't be right for someone to judge you by what you are wearing on your wrist. But the world doesn't always operate by what is "fair" and "right" |

Regardless, all you will know is you got it or you didn't. Nobody is going to tell you it was because they loved or were put off by your watch. I'd be more concerned about jeans and tennis shoes. At least make them dark black jeans and put on a pair of leather loafers if you can't bring yourself to dress better than a grocery bagger. |

Re the comments on non dress shoes with a suit. I’m in a situation where I do this (though would use dress shoes for an hour interview). A piece of metal damaged my knee when I was in the Army. The damage caused me to walk a little funny which caused foot issues. Both the unusual gate and foot issues were made significantly better when the VA made some orthopedic inserts that fit a pair of orthopedic shoes that look like sneakers. The inserts do not fit any dress shoes (I’ve tried). Anyway, when you see a guy in non dress shoes with a suit there may be more to the story... even a younger guy as the US has been sending kids to the sand box for decades now.
Regarding the watch, it depends on the situation. However, I would only wear it on the original bracelet to the interview. |

Interesting that you consider a rubber blue band on this "Not too flashy"
I'd wear that watch if I was interviewing at a creative agency, not if I was anywhere else. I'd also decide based on the salary range of the position - if it's a 300k plus salary, go for it. If you're expecting to be negotiating in the process over a salary of 78 or 80, I'd personally not want to give off the vibe that the money I am negotiating over is a small fraction of what I spent on a watch. My stance is understated (which this is not) or nothing. People saying that people don't care or notice this stuff are not correct. Plenty of people notice this stuff. Whether they find it good or bad is up for debate, but you can't count on ambivalence. |

One thing I was told when doing my medical school interview was this...
Hands 2 minutes Fish And it goes like this... Keep your hands to yourself, dont talk with your hands keep them together etc... 2 minutes is the average time to speak to someone before they begin to loose interest in what youre saying or loose focus. Fish... Fish can be anything... For instance if there is a photo of the interviewer fishing bring up something in common with fishing... Anything they might be wearing or within the room find a connection with that amd go with it... Nobody is likely to look at your watch. Be yourself and get the job. Good luck! Anyone that notices will likely see it as a sign of good taste and success, so I would wear it with pride.
But not on that strap...ugh. |

The number of times I have interviewed people that leave their phone on is bad enough, but even worse is the number of times people actually answered them! If that happens....doesn't matter what watch you are wearing. |

What is going happen is that the person interviewing you will have his/her Rolex on and then you wish you wore yours

In the thirty years that I have been interviewing applicants, I have never based my decision to hire someone based on the jewelry they wear, unless it is a facial piercing or one of those large things in their ears. I do base it on how they present them self. Are they dressed well? Are they intelligent? Do they ask good questions about the position they are interviewing for? Do they meet the job qualifications. Now if they are wearing a nice watch, I may take notice, and even compliment it, but never would I be encouraged or discouraged to hire based on jewelry. Good luck with your interview.

Yes, but be subtle. If you are lucky, you will be interviewed by someone who is into Rolexes and this could be something you two talk about. Otherwise, you are just a guy wearing a watch. Best of luck on your interview.

I wanted to disagree with you, but I can't. "Not going into the interview with humility?"
Personally, I would be more inclined to hire someone who came across as successful in the same way that I would shy away from someone who came across as a ne'er-do-well; and good taste is never a bad thing. |

Its funny, because I'm a hiring administrator as well. If anyone asks me for interview advice, I tell them the following:
1) Prepare! 2) Walk in like you own the place, but don't tell them that! People who follow this advice swear by it! |

I'd wear the watch but don't purposefully flash it around for attention.

IMO if you need to ask yourself whether or not to wear the watch to an interview you pretty much answered your own question. Leave it in the car.

Perception is reality
A person's perception of the world is created through the lens of their conditioning. You never know what inherent biases someone might have, or how their own life experiences have shaped their belief system and behaviour. People judge other people all the time. Sometimes over trivial stuff that doesn't matter. But because of their own perception, it matters to them It's entirely possible that a hiring manager might be a watch geek, but it's also entirely possible that a hiring manager could see a Rolex as ostentatious, based on their own perception of what the brand "Rolex" represents to them. Then that informs their opinion of you, and maybe not a positive one. Is it fair? Maybe not. But that's how the world works sometimes. So why take that chance? |

Agree there are just too many risks with wearing it - or any Rolex really - to an interview. I'd say the only nice watch I'd feel ok wearing in that context is a Speedy.
