Quotes for son’s 1st watch

Picking up my sons 1st Rolex today. He is 15 and didn’t want a car, since he is buying his own. He’s spends most of his time on his PC buying and selling sneakers, and for his age has done really well. He likes the nicer things in life but is not flashy at all, he’s all business. I’m looking for something not to deep but not too wolf of Wall Street either, funny and inspirational is the goal. The back will have his name and today’s date, and very few words hopefully, thanks guys and gals.

I would consider the Explorer II. Great watch and something I think he would really like.

if he is 15, you may want to stick with the smaller rolexes. 41mm might be the max if his wrists are smaller than 6 to 6.5 inches. He can grow into that size nicely. 42 or 43 might be a stretch. Sub for sporty or new oyster.

Exp or Exp II are great first (and perhaps last) Rolexes. Quick question though: does he even want a watch?

I got my son a mechanical Tisot so I can gage his interest in watches. He has taken to it and I see him looking at the workings through the case back all the time. He is learning how to take care of it and appreciate it. I am confident now that he will appreciate and covet the Rolex I am going to surprise him with for college graduation. Let alone my entire collection when he inherits it.

I actually would not engrave any quote on the back case. I'd just come up with something that you always say to him, something you've found to be a truism in life, and tell him to remember that quote every time he looks at the watch.

If you must engrave, I'd only do the name & date thing.

I have a teenager as well and to be honest I would just keep it simple. I would do his name, date, and Love, Dad.....call it done. Any catchy quote I would have enjoyed at 15 would probably make me cringe now and vice versa.

Happy Birthday to your son and I look forward to the incoming.

"Son, I'm (or we're) proud of you." then name and date.

“Son, please don’t flip this watch like you do sneakers”, sorry bad joke! First of all love that you are doing this. I would say, “With love to our son “name”“

Knowing the watch may help. If indeed you chose Explorer, you could choose a play on the explore theme in the watch name.

Not knowing the watch, a couple short suggestions that may fit the bill are “Oh, the Places You'll Go!", which he may remember from the Dr. Suess book of the same name or Mr. Spock's "Live long and prosper!"

Good luck!

Quotes for son’s 1st watch

Without knowing much about your son (other than he’s into the shoe game). I’d go with something like, Dream Big

I would go for the date and quote wise I would go for “son, invest in Blockbusters and put you savings in Bitcoins and all will be well”

Hope that helps??
