Margins

Excuse me if this has been discussed, if there is a thread on this then please link it, what are the profit margins for different brands based on msrp, Rolex for example it’s well known that the dealers pay 62 cents on the dollar.

How accurate is the 62% number?

I doubt every model Rolex is sold to ADs for 62% of MSRP...

But I don't know...It would interesting to know...

That’s what they say, I don’t know though, I’m sure someone on the forums can confirm

I recall reading that PP and AP sell to dealers for 50% of retail, but have no way of verifying.

From what I remember, most brands sell to ADs for 60% of retail. Rolex is either 62 or 63% and I believe Cartier is slightly higher.

The challenge is with brands like Panerai they have at least three different price points on cost depending on the movement. Some brands inside the manufacture and AD relationship also discount off the cost to the AD. With established brands like IWC, Panerai, Omega, etc. the best thing to do is ask or operate on a 50% cost to the AD. When you mention this if it is more than 50% they will let you know right away. It does not matter what the margins are on Rolex or PP as not much discounting going on on the hot models.

I would assume the standard margins.

Don't know anything about the margins, but the fonts change all the time.

It says in the rules there won't be calculus, but simple arithmetic can pop up from time to time.

I just glaze over as well when that happens.

I used to go lalalalalalalala...with my eyes covered but that was too much work especially with all the investment threads.

My question is more "what is the value of knowing this? It isn't as if you suddenly would have negotiating power at the AD"
