Thursday Boots

I’m looking at the “ President “ boots from Thursday Boots. I already have a pair of Allen Edmonds “ Higgins Mill.” Does anyone have experience with this company? Thank you.

If I were seriously considering a pair and I wanted more knowledge I would check Styleforum. However given the price I saw at an around $200 I would probably opt to spend an extra hundred or two. Way too many good options out there at that price for me to even seriously consider them in the first place. Sometimes you actually get what you pay for. I like investing in things that look better as they age and actually last longer. That price point generally isn't very promising.

Redwing but break in can be painful but boots made to last. Rancourt, Truman Boot Co, Ryder Boot Co, Whites, Oak Street Bootmakers to name just a few.

Viberg are the ones in that style I would go with but those are more than three times the price.

If only you could put all of these side by side like I can with most you would understand what I am talking about.

I have a pair as well. I would recommend the others I mentioned before recommending a pair of Wolverines. Wolverines just aren't as substantial in my opinion as the ones I mentioned.

In the $200 range they are fine. You seem to have the major base covered with the AE's..

I haven't tried the others on your list except Redwing, and I think the Wolverine are better in my opinion (by 1000 miles )

I decided to give them a try a few months ago. I really liked the looks of their wingtip boot so I ordered a pair. I’m pretty impressed by the quality. The boots are built well and are comfortable. I’m happy with the purchase.

They get good reviews on the Goodyear Welt Reddit- they have their QA issues, but for that price range they’re a good boot.

The AE you have are superb boots IMO.

And then the wormhole into Alden, C&J, and Viberg.

I have worn boots regularly for more than thirty years, both at work and home. There are some good brands out there and typically you get what you pay for. I have Allen Edmonds dress boots and they are great but for a more rugged and all around boot I have found the Wolverine 1000 Mile Boots to be the best. They break in more easily then Red Wing and last just as long. I have looked at Tuesday Boots before but they did not meet my needs. I would say go try some on from all brands and see what works for you.

My AE I really like. I just wish the brown color they sell was a darker shade. I like the “ “Tobacco” color on the President line, of Thursday boots. I’m waiting for the NYC location to open. I want to see them in person. I’m also going to try the Wolverines, and Red Wings.

On YouTube, “Trenton and Heath” two cobblers gave them a good review. They take apart the boots, and review them.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who watches their content. Ever since reading this thread for the first time I've been getting banner ads for Thursday boots on various websites. Will take a peek at them.

Typically QA issues are more prevalent with lower tier mass produced goods especially with shoemakers. AE tends to have these issues but their Customer Support typically makes up for that. They are more than willing to send you as many replacements as necessary to get it right.

Agreed - meant I've read lots of concerns over the Thursday boots, AE and up, yes they occur, but customer service will usually take care of it pronto.

But for $200.00, seems like the Thursday boot is well received.

They broke in very quickly. They leather is soft right out of the box. I’m not used to wearing boots that go above the ankle so it was a little weird to walk in them initially, but the feel around my feet was very good right from the start.

I just watched “ Rose Anvil” on youtube. He literally cuts footwear in half, and does a thorough review. He reviewed the Red Wing Iron Ranger, and gave it a good review. I wish he reviewed Thursday Boots. I’m sure it’s a matter of time though.

His channel is very impressive. He cuts up Jordons, and other popular footwear.

For $200 it’s good value.

Look at Alden Indy’s. Best. Kit I’ve ever owned. Pricey but well worth it.

The one thing I hate about my Indys are how the tongue travels. There's a fix but I do hate how they didn't stitch the tongue.

I have three pairs. Very comfortable, and for me, that they are made in the USA is worth the premium.

Chromexcel is some of the best all weather leather that's easy to get.

Zug by and far is the best, but that's a bit tougher to get.

Couldn’t agree more. They are so much more comfortable than my Red Wing heritage.

Might be, I haven't looked in awhile and never followed them. Last I saw mentioned was quality issues and as I recommended for me there are very good options at a price point slightly higher and much more appealing to me so that's where I would go. Some of this goes to one's budget and expectations of course. But often expectations are based ones experiences.
