another should I flip thread

First off thanks for listening. First world problems here that many outside of TRF just don't get, so I can't really talk about it with them (ie family & non-wis friends).

I have a SubC41 date that I've grown rather bored of. It's just so plain, and after getting my CHNR, the Sub gets little wrist time. Ive also come to terms with I'm more of a GMT guy. So I'm on the fence of flipping for a BLRO on jubilee + some cash. I don't have any special attachment to the sub, just a watch I added to the collection.

In my mind, if I need an all black watch, I can drop the LN insert into my 16710 or wear a seiko, Steinhart, Hamilton.

Is there something I'm missing? Has anyone else done this and regretted it? I know the BLRO is very popular so there will be a lot of ppl telling me to do it. Part of me is even considering saying screw it and fork out more cash and grab a used WG BLRO with a blue dial and dive into a full PM piece.

Id like to get the opinions of those who have done the same and how they felt about it afterwards.

Every collection is as different as the collector.

My thoughts are that I wouldn’t necessarily want two of the same models from the same brand.

If you’re bored with the submariner date, maybe consider trading it toward an LVC?

I have the CHNR and the GRNR and must say I am really loving this diverse TT pair, probably more than if I had just got one in full gold as I have done a few times before.

Yes, screw it and go all gold! I enjoy the TT versions of the GRNR/CHNR but it's all gold for me and I'm now with the GRNR after going through a few CHNRs.

But if you're thinking BLRO then you don't have that dilemma! Either blue or meteorite dials are amazing you can't go wrong.

Losing interest in a specific watch you own and wanting to sell it for something you like more doesn't come across like flipping.

You don't wear it or have feelings for it...
Sell it

I can understand. I feel a modern sub is nice, but not for me.

Do it.

Not sure if you will really see any profits from the flip.

I understand. Owning a SubC, GMT tt in yellow gold. I recently acquired a SD43. Since buying the SD, nothing else compares and it gets all the wrist time. Perhaps that not subtle difference may be something to consider. The steel GMT's on jubilee look amazing and you can't go wrong.

BTW, I've purchased the SubC four times, so I get it.

Good luck.

if you have not connected with sub now, it is unlikely you will connect with it in the future. So I would say go for it.

Shoot flip was prob the wrong word to use and on my mind from another thread I was reading. Trade/sell for would be better terminology

To say your flipping the SubDate, we would need to know how long you owned the watch.

Sell the Sub, get the new SS GRNR? It’s a GMT with the look of a Sub :)

The sub is rather plain in black but most people love submariners. I have the newest version of the LV and the new WG sub. Love the colors. I also have the JC DSSD and the SD43 which I love better than a black sub. It is bigger, has the matte dial and has the red lettering. If you love the GMT line then get the BLRO in SS or gold. I had the CHNR and the TT bluesy but let them go. I am either SS or all gold. Looking forward to seeing your choice.

CHNR and BLRO on jubilee can absolutely co-exist in a collection.

You will need to add cash, not get cash, in order to trade for a BLRO. If you don’t wear it sell it. You may regret it, though, in the sense that it’s a piece every Rolex collector should have. Maybe get a no date Sub to replace it. Pure Rolex.

I’d trade in a heartbeat. I feel the same about the black dial/bezel sub.

I sold my black sub after getting a BLNR. Never regretted for a moment. If you're not wearing, get rid of it. Don't overthink.

Sounds like deep down the only debate is whether you want a BLRO or a PM BLRO.

This.

I love the Submariner, I'm on my third (or perhaps fourth?) and every time I sell it, I regret it. But that's me. I also find the BLRO to be a beautiful watch, but too busy and flashy. Again, that's me.

At the end of the day, it's just a watch. You can't take it with you.

See what the numbers are and make a decision. The Submariner is my favorite Rolex of all time but I do not mind trading/selling as another can be obtained later very easily.

The WG 126719 with a blue dial is a very understated piece and very good value for money. Good luck with the hunt!
