the 1655 has always been quite expensive due to the fact that there just werent the high production numbers on this model like most of the others..so that means the demand always outweights the supply of nice 1655's
I have seen examples very similiar to this one fetch between 13 and 14k

Beautiful! I really like the big GMT hand, the faded look is cool.

I totally agree..that large GMT hand really sets the whole design of this watch off!
it trully has a look of its own!
when I look at this watch I see some go-go dancers up on a colorful trippy stage dancing to the beatles and a waitress wearing bell bottoms and a bee-hive hairdo is taking my mixed-drink order!!
am I reading to much into the watch?...lol

Looks pretty sweet Steve

Nice patina and thick and even crown guards. So man examples tend to have polished down or uneven crown guards.

As for the 'albino' this is infrequently seen but it is an occurrence that is seen to happen. My guess is that Rolex used some kind of paint and forgot to put some anti-UV protection or anti-fade in the pigment that results in this 'albino' effect

I am half tempted to put this one in my personal collection, because you are correct..
so many of these have been overpolished thru the years its nice to find an unmolested example!

Oooh. No cyclops.

Reminds me of my "poor man's 1655" (wow, even the same date on the wheel - my photo is months old).
