5513 Tropic 19 - question

Hi guys, I'd like to replace the crystal of my 5513 as it is heavily scratched and was probably polished a thousand times already.
The new Tropic 19 is more flat, to me it doesn't have the charm of the old domed crystals. However, for reasons of waterproofness I'm reluctant to use one of the vintage domed types. An alternative would be a generic crystal like the ones offered by Ofrei, but they come with different diameters and shapes. Does anyone know which of these generic Tropic 19 best resembles the original domed type and technically fits the watch??

Why not go with the old-style Tropic 19 unless you plan on diving with your 5513? Personally, I wouldn't do that anyway even if your Sub did pass a pressure/water test. It's a vintage watch. Why risk it? Also, I've read/heard that the old-style Tropic 19 often does pass the pressure test anyway. More knowledgeable vintage Sub lovers might have other opinions.

Personally I'd be reluctant to use an after market crystal. With a vintage piece best to use a genuine replacement part rather than take a chance.

Over time acryllic can develop stress cracks (even NOS). That's not to say it always happens, but the risk can be very expensive and damage to the dial can be perminent.

There are two "genuine" options aren't there?

First is a 19 service crystal (not the same profile)

Second is a vintage 19 crystal (Vintage NOS) ~$300


Bob Ridley was willing to do either for my watch and did not offer any warnings (although he did warn against generics)

Bob checked my superdome for cracks when it was installed an all was OK. You just have to be careful with thse older acrylics. =) maverick

Bob is very good and is aware of the risks that can arise in vintage crystals
