Lease it for 2-3 years only - Definitely NOT a vehicle that you keep for the long term (has way too many mechanical, electrical and HVAC issues…..

Yep that just about covers it for all of them out of that outfit just about as far back as i can ever remember.
You need to have two of them so you can always use one for spare parts.
Land Rovers and Range Rovers, the whole lot.

I had a 23 p400 110. It was exactly as advertised. Interior was wonderful leather. Awesome when it worked. Once a week the screen would go black on startup. Rear driver side door stuck due to faulty door seal. Wipers didn’t spray properly. I didn’t keep it but a few months but I normally don’t keep them more than 6-12 anyways.

If you go in eyes open they are cool. If you’re expecting a Japanese or even German experience look elsewhere.

I’ve had the 110 and the 90…no problems.
Had each for a bit less than a year.

Take a peak at the new Lexus GX, would take that over the new defender, with just as good if not better off roading, Lexus reliability and better interior for similar or less money depending on spec.

That Lexus looks the way to go and I’m pretty confident it will have a better build quality

I have had three over 20 years and reckon I have been lucky, never a problem but I do hear the above.

God I want one of those, but sadly they're not coming to my side of the pond. I'd immediately swap the LS400 for that

Had 3 Land Rovers and Range Rovers in the past. Learned my lesson.

Swapped them out for 60 Series, 80 Series, 100 Series, and 200 Series Land Cruisers. The 60 and 100 are gone. Fully restoring my supercharged 80 right now.

I had a 2020 110 P400 with no issues and now have a 2023 130 with the same motor. No issues. Infotainment would be the only thing that does not work 100% of the time, every time. Can be laggy or steering wheel buttons might need to be depressed a couple of times to invoke the desired function. Maybe operator error? Don't know. No different than many newer cars which are essentially a computer on wheels. I love mine. I do like the looks of the new GX and Land Cruiser and am sure they will have legendary Japanese reliability. having owned a 1997 Defender 90 back in the day, I guess I am just a brand loyalist. LR=Rolex (heritage, brand cache) Lexus =Grand Seiko (could argued equal or superior; but doesn't stir the same emotional connection?)

Had 5 Range Rovers & 2 - 110's 'County' and 'Double Cab'.
Don't recollect any major problems.

I DO remember around 1987, my Gamekeeper telling, a Lexus (RX I think) owner, he wouldn't be coming on the shoot with, "THAT THING!", as he, "didn't want to waste time, towing it out of a muddy field".

Obviously would have to add a significant sum, but I wouldn't keep them both. One very large vehicle is enough

This.
Previous old thing will get restored but even in this condition it works where others (Isuzu, Hilux) really struggle. Current Defender is even better.

That’s unfortunate bas. I’m sure you guys get plenty of cool stuff that we don’t!

I strongly considered one, but ended up going with the previous generation GX. Not as good looking, but arguably tougher and way more reliable.

Yeah…personally I love LR products… They’re beautiful, comfortable, and fun to drive. They just don’t seem to be fun to own. On top of being costly, they’re also expensive. A buddy of mine had a full sizer and said that no matter what he took it in for, the bill was always 4-fig minimum. Sweet.

I’ve got a 23 GX and don’t plan on selling it ever. I like the new GX but I’m loving the new Land Cruiser more.

OP, the Defender really is a nice vehicle but I’d only consider it if you’re planning on getting rid of it before warranty expires, you live close to a dealer and you have a high tolerance for dealing with the hassle involved in repairs (I don’t).
