Thanks for this info, it's super useful. I provided the officer filling out the police report with the serial number of the watch, but I assume that's only helpful if a pawn shop contacts the police when being offered a watch. You're suggesting I should additionally reach out to shops in the region myself and ask them to look out for it/contact me if it comes through their door?

Also, I asked my sales rep at my AD about how to notify Rolex service centers to look out for the serial number, but she seemed unaware that this was possible. Is there some way to globally register the watch SN with Rolex as stolen, or do I need to reach out to every service center in my local area individually?

i know the Rolex service centers are not centralised, as in , they cant even tell you if a watch was serviced in other service centers. But, I am pretty sure there is a way to flag a watch as stolen in their systems atleast in your area or city

Here are points to consider, Maybe others can add as well:
1. I think pawn shops do have a way of checking stolen watches before they buy or list them. I read about this in another forum.
2. Use other watch forums and advertise the stolen watch with its details. Long shot, but you never know.... If you ever locate it, advise the police, dont go there yourself :)
3. Monitoring craigs list, ebay, chrono24. You can even create an alert to notify you when your model is listed.
4. You can also try listing it here:

What's not clear to me (I suppose because I'm not a criminal) is where the market is for high-value stolen Rolexes. Given that it seems most pawn shops as well as Rolex service centers will check serial numbers against stolen databases, where do you find a buyer for a stolen $30k gold Rolex? Is it just a group of criminals all buying and selling amongst themselves?

These thugs will sell to gang members and other undesirables for 50 cents on the dollar.

First off, you’re safe - that’s the good news.

Rolex does have a global theft registry, you don’t need to call each service center. Here in the US you need to contact Rolex USA. First, get a copy of your police report because you will need it.

Call RUSA main number:
Main Telephone(212) 758-7700

Explain your reason for calling and you will be connected with a sympathetic soul who will explain how to provide your theft report. The police report number will be needed.

With these unusual times, your report may need to wait until the NYC lockdown is lifted.

This is how I had to report my stolen Platona almost 3 years ago.

In my experience (after both burglars were apprehended and convicted), their drug dealer paid them $8,000 for a Platona. Of course they got some of that in drugs and the rest in cash.

Chrono24 should be able to provide you (or the police) with the login and ip info for the person that was communicating with you prior to the meet up. Perhaps they were dumb enough to be doing this from home.

Rolex Switzerland surely has a central stolen registry.
I am pretty sure that their ROLEX service centers always check it.
Approved Rolex repair "people" have NO access.
But you should record it with Rolex and CSA

yeah this is tough. Blabus how you doing ? thought about you the other day. and I still feel lucky I didn't lose 85k worth of watches.
register that thing on those stolen watch registries.
when i filed the police report they told me this was all to common right now.
it's true, it's just monetary and way worse things happening around the world.
but you and i and others sharing our experiences will hopefully help others avoid this.

i've had so many shitty experiences just buying watches on the grey market some of my friends practically had heart attacks vicariously. i am definitely leaning less and less towards anything untowards (no pun intended - it's the port talking)
