F.P. Journe Octa Lune Havana dial - how do you like it?

Consider getting this one... does any member experience this piece before?

I have not handled that specific model Octa Lune, but I really like the line. A few years ago I handled the Mother of Pearl Dial Octa Lune at the NYC Boutique, that was a very special watch. Anyway, all the dials are great, get whatever one strikes your fancy.

I've had one for awhile, RG version which I prefer. The platinum is beautiful as well, but the combo of RG and brown dial just pops to my eye. I've worn all the "big brand" dress watches at one time or another and for my money nothing wears as comfortably as a Journe. You will hear that from many long time collectors of many brands. They just wear nicely.

Straps are amazing - selection is wonderful, quick release system and curved springbar is a breeze. FPJ is sort of like Panerai in that straps are a big part of the experience.

The watch sets super easily from the crown. Wears impeccably. Dresses up and down very well. Like all Journes, it's damn near perfection. And there is nothing else like that dial anywhere. Good luck!

Get it while you can indeed. These things were plentiful 2 years ago. A year ago you could still find them well below MSRP with ease. 6 months ago they had risen 10K on the secondary and were getting pretty hard to find. Now they are sold out for the year and on waiting list at the Boutique. I'm not sure what happened, as previously these were not "hot" watches at all, but they seem to be picking up steam. It's a great watch. Maybe it just took a little while for people to come around on it, or perhaps as the Boutique told me "it is becoming the number one beneficiary of the CB is unattainable spillover."

Yah, I picked up my CS not long ago, it was sitting in my AD windows for months I think. To be honest, friends only started to ask me about it once I picked it up. Nobody knew the watch was there for the whole time, I bet everyone walked in and asked for a Bleu, as soon as sales said no, they just walked out.

In the around 50K and under category at FPJ it's a bunch of white dials primarily (which look great btw), and so for people who want into the brand but want something "different" the most obvious choices are the CB and Havana dials. With the CB being unobtainium now and forever, it is logical to think that the Havana would increase in popularity, and that is precisely what the Boutique told me is happening.

Boutique has also told me that they believe the CB will be discontinued or modified soon, which I believe, but sometimes find odd. That watch has brought so much attention to the brand, and functioned so well as a "gateway drug" to the brand years ago, and now functions so well as a "spillover to other watches" within the brand, that it is hard to overstate its positive impact to FPJ.

Sidenote, I also had the AD I bought my first two Journes at tell me they are wait listed for the Havana, so it isn't just the Boutique. Havana dials are killer. Glad to see this watch getting its due.

That's a beautiful piece In general neither the Havana dial nor the 40mm cases on the CS are my personal preference, but the combination in platinum looks amazing.

Love the FPJ Havanna. Great movement, well-executed dial, simple, clean, and elegant.

Thanks everyone. My trusted friend is trying to source one for me. I don't even know what price I should expect as I don't see the same model from Chrono24 or anywhere. I'm guessing just below $50k?

42.5k is a little steep considering it’s just a Havana CS not a Lune. Not to mention if he’s in the US he’ll have to pay customs tax adding anywhere from 1-2k to price

Watchbox has same one for 38k full set and they usually have some wiggle room if you call

Yah.. I think 42.5 is a bit too much, but well.... apparently it's now on hold, so I guess someone is willing to pay the price (or somewhere close it as it was only listed last week or so).

+1 on Havana. This thing wears so well. The hands pop against the brown dial.

Tried on a Havana CS at the LA boutique last year. A very unique and attractive color. Was not ready to drop that much moolah at the time. But if you have the funds, it looks great.

Yes it is considering retail on the lune in gold is 43.2K. For that price, I would get the lune which should be obtainable within in a year at a boutique.

I don't have experience with it, but sure is beautiful. Seems tough to wrong with such a nice Journe.

My AD has the octa Luna Havana forgotten in the safe. It’s mine if I want it. Haha. Tough decision ahead. Never owned an FPJ. Thoughts? It’s the platinum one. I can see how RG is much nicer. The brown / brown just doesn’t look that good against my skin. But I’d hate to pass on something I may never be offered to buy again.
