I think it would be sweet if they would make the coronet and brand name larger. On some of the models, the font size and or font color make it hard to read all the other print anyway. As far as I am concerned, they could put all the "less important" information on the case back.

I like the Mark II. I find it very fine and elegant looking. Like a tattoo of a butterfly on an elephants butt.

Here's a full (not very detailed) pic of the Mark III, which I happen to like very much! It looks very symmetric to my eye. Granted, I can't even see it in real scale anyway.

Sure, he you go... as you can see, the style of the "MK II" and "MK III" crown is the same:

Very good info. I still prefer Mk1. I learned lot just now.
To answer the OP's questions.....I'd suggest that you just go ahead and get a DSSD and pay little attention to the dial changes and serial #s. |

I traded away a DSSD with the Mark III dial because my OCD would not allow me to stop focusing on the non-centered "=" sign. When I bought another DSSD, I purposely sought out the Mark II dial, and now I am very happy with it:)

Thank you for posting. It could be part of ongoing anti-counterfeiting measures.

with the help of my friend Pierre we've seen an mkIII dial with a lower g serial in comparison of mine...so it's very hard to explain.... but rolex knows perfectly the differences between different dials, the mkII dial code is "116668" |

Very interesting. I'd love to know of any similar dial differences for other models.

Unbelievable! The differences in the font and set up get me thinking....WTF?
Differences like this are the sort of thing that enables discussions about counterfeits v. real. I'm not suggesting that we have any counterfeits here, its just puzzling as to why Rolex would periodically alter the dial font. Maybe they do this to confuse people. Thanks for the post Bo. |

Yeah, that's exactly what I don't like about the MK III dial!

Mark I all the way!
Maybe Rolex does this so that the impostures cannot keep up! That would strike me as a clever deke out of and to their whole game on the part of Rolex. OOOPS! I read the thread further up and anti-duplication has been discussed! Awesome! Not cutting your grass, folks, just not paying full attention! So sorry! Down with replicas!
