It’s definitely not the one thing that keeps me from buying this watch. The new dials are a big improvement. Surprised it took AP 18 months to come out with these. |

These new ones are certainly putting more make-up on it, still wouldn't want to wake up next to them tho...

This line need a dial change. Not dial color change.

AP could certainly sell me more watches if they ditched the date at 4.30 thing. Either offer a no-date option or find a neater way of including it. Would definitely buy a ROC without a date and would be much more inclined to buy a Code.

Maybe it's too simple, but removing those futuristic numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 would also improve it imho. Perhaps they could have added the AP logo either at 12 o'clock or above 6 o'clock.

Code 11.59
I am in the minority here but I have always been skeptical, especially reading reviews.
Once I put one on my wrist, I really liked the Code! It is, however, not an “AP experience” and I decided to keep it. If the same exact piece was made by a different company, maybe we wouldn’t hate it because it is so not the AP DNA. And the Kevlar strap is a home run! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I completely agree.
I'd like the CODE 11.59 if 1) It wasn't an AP. 2) Wasn't priced like an AP. 3) Wasn't called "CODE 11.59" If those three were true, it's actually a really solid watch. The case, the curves, the movement. |

Couldn’t agree more. Tried one the other day and couldn’t bring myself to be honest with the AD about how terrible it was. Talk about a mistake from AP

Honestly, I’m not interested in purchasing a Code 11.59, but the watch has interesting design elements and excellent craftsmanship. I’d love to have one to hold and admire. The problem is I don’t see myself wearing one in my day-to-day lifestyle. Pre-/Post-Covid lifestyle, I mean. No one sees my watches these days. I do want to pick up a nice gold watch at some point, but would likely pick up an H. Moser over any future incarnation of the Code line. |

I too dislike the fonts but I recently learned the inspiration for the exact same font designs came from their archives and actually goes back many many years Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The new line of CODE is really nice.
I’d wear the red/purple ones any day of the week. |

Wait..what? Sorry, but the "new" versions still look basically the same as the originals to me. All of them would look right at home inside the 6-sided rotating display case sitting on top of the jewelry counter at Macy's. These things really need integrated straps.

I saw that new blue dials (time/date and chrono) and grey dial with two tone case in-person. The new dials look much better than the original dials and at least for me, address the main problem I had with the original chrono and time/date Codes - the dials were a bit too plain. I'm now seriously considering getting the grey fume chrono with two tone case. I say this recognizing that there is still a lot of hate for the Code and resale values aren't great, but I'm not trying to impress anyone else with my watches or resell them. Also, having a watch that speaks to me but not everyone else in the world is kinda nice. |

The problem with this line, case and dial left aside (I actually quite like both, especially the new dials), is the price. In that price range, you get beautifully finished annual calendars from Patek, while AP will give you an automatic chrono that - except for its nicely sharp rotor - looks like it fell straight out of a CNC mill. The simple date movement doesn’t really measure up to nicely either against what 27k will get you at Patek or VC... AP should go back to its archives less often to look for unfortunate fonts and more to rediscover how to actually make watches by hand. They used to be fantastic at this, but ever since the 3120, seem awfully pleased by the convenience of letting the automated diamond head do the same it does on any entry level Panerai, plus minus a bit of polishing.

The white chrono is also really nice in person. Who knows, maybe the code will be a future classic
