xenophon,
The refurb looks fantastic. Brilliant looking timepiece. Get well and get back into the brine!

^^I can fully understand why many on this forum want a watch with functional luminescence. However, I really don't see why people wouldn't just send it to a professional watchmaker to have them relume the vintage dial with Superluminova. I realize that this will decrease the value of the watch, but if you are not planning on selling the watch.........wouldn't this be a better option than having a modern dial? I would much prefer to keep the vintage matte dial.
This is a mod (A friend of mine had this mod done) that Kent Parks did on a Alphatime Sawfish. Here is the "before" picture And here is the "after" picture. (Rolex Snowflake hands, a Redial, Relume, and some case refinishing, and a new bezel insert) Can't you just imagine that new Superluminova with the vintage look to it on a 5513?? I think it would look AWESOME!!

When all said and done a watch is to read the time, not an investment and what you have done is to furthur what Rolex intended for it in the first place..Well done!
Your watch has gained history and as a collector of old watches and fountain pens I would much rather the watch have personal history than be immaculate and never used! |
