Beg pardon, but having less than a stellar experience while watch shopping via telephone should not be surprising. IMO of course.

Hi everyone,
Well.. Here is a follow up. So as I was pissed.. I decided to call another AD. Well, same story.."oh good luck getting the green one. You know Rolex people.. They always want what they can't get".. IDIOT!! He made the first guy look smart. I called down 3 hours later. Called the first guy and told him to order the Hulk.. And guess what?.. The "hard to get model".. Will be in the store Monday. I told him 3 times that when I arrive the watch must be in original box from Rolex and 100% unopened. He said ok. I did end up getting what I think is an excellent price on it.. Much better than mentioned in one of the responses to me. What did I learn?.. To read and learn from TRF and not to count on AD salesmen. Ordering from TRF sellers doesn't pay for QuebecerSpoiled. 5% duty and 15.6% sales tax. You add this all up.. And difference is $500. I'll post pics second I take delivery. P.S. Funny enough.. I ordered 2 super nice Seiko diving watchers to be my beaters.. |

There an pretty asian girl at a Rolex store on 5th ave and 56th st - she is extremely knowledgable on all models.
Drawback is... $0 discount - but she is a fountain of knowledge! Love speaking with someone that deserves a sale. She is great! |

I'm frustrated because you have a DSSD and won't put it in the water!
Oh and I don't ever expect to get any good information over the phone...especially on prices/discounts. |

Hey, I don't like Green Rolexes either, but who cares what I think, I sure wouldn't tell that to a prospective customer.
If it sings to the customer, let him enjoy it without tainting the experience. The AD is not at fault, the particular sales person needs training. I've had the same problem at a Mercedes Dealer, I knew way more than the salesman. Does that reflect poorly on Mercedes? No. The entire Dealership? No, they have a well-deserved good reputation there. Just a bad salesman. It happens in all product lines. |

X a million!
I agree with you 100%. My A D gives an additional 3 years of warranty after the two from Rolex at no charge and my guy also gives me a modest discount. Naturally I buy from the same sales rep. He is knowledgable and a pleasure to hang out with to just shoot the breeze. How's this for service. Called him on Tuesday and told him I wanted a new Rolex Explore One. Said he didn't have one in stock but would send a driver to another location 30 miles away and call me when it arrived. 45 mins later he called and said your new watch is here. No deposit. No nothing. Just my word I would buy today. How's that for an A D???

Extremely hard to make a sale over the phone, much more success if the customer is in store. Hence, a salesperson would want to not spend much time on the phone. Plus, there are many stores who's policy is to never discuss prices other than MRSP over the phone. If you want to talk possible discounts, it can only be done face to face.

So you're a member of the biggest Rolex forum on earth and have all the pricing info right here and you called the AD anyway? I'd have saved the hassle and money and purchased from a TD here.

Most sales people at most AD's don't know much about Rolexes. Think about it, would you be able to afford a Rolex on their salary? Probably not. So they don't have the opportunity to become WIS's anyway.
The one's who DO know what they're talking about are watch hobbyist to begin with, so they are a lot more knowledgeable. |

Where I'm from I'd have told him to do some research and go to retail school. It's rubbish to suggest they can't talk numbers on the phone, I've had similar conversations with AD's here on the phone with no problems talking about prices. Managed to secure the deal on my Milgauss that way with a boutique in London. |

I guess every AD is different, they each have their own policies. At least some of the AD's and grey's that I've inquired over the phone, will only quote the listed price and hint that a better price can be worked out, but only in store and not over the phone.

My AD match Tony's price over the phone on a 116334, he was out of town so I drove over to the AD on got it the same day.
They were nice enough to remove every single sticker on it, I was kinda bummed out, I like to do that stuff. Contrasts on your 116610LV

Not sure why you would even care about the sales people or what they think.
I just bought a Exp II polar 42, walked in, picked it, put it on, slapped down the $$ and walked out. Don't even remember their name.... Anyone on this forum knows all the specs of all the watches before they even walk in. You buy cuz you like the look, the salesperson is there to make the invoice, that's it. Just treat me nice and polite like any other sales business

None of them are 'beaters' for the beach! But they can all be taken to the beach. Seems like you have several candidates already, why not use one of those, even the hallowed and super-dry DSSD?! Why buy a new green Sub to treat as a beater, when you've got a TT Sub or an Exp II you could use?
