Great how to...I did an entire case and bracelet on a sub I once owned. That watch got more compliments on any rolex I have ever owned.

Excellent. You've done a very fine job of documenting a process I haven't been confident enough to research out and try myself. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Tres cool, dude. I don't think I'd do it but if I tried, you've done a good job of showing me how.

I just tried the Scotch Brite sanding pad and thats an amazing trick. without much effort at all the band looks like new. I didnt even remove it from the head. I cut a smallish piece of the pad and did one link at a time. I should think this would work wonders for the people with polished center link GMTs and want to make the whole thing brushed looking.

Wow! Normally I'd say NO!, don't do that! But this was a very well executed touch up. I WOULD NOT recommend this to anyone who is even a touch less experienced with refinishing than this guy.

SDWatch did a very good job of maintaining the flatness on the sides of the professional case, however I am interested in seeing if the line finish on the top of the lugs was untouched.

You can EASILY put them back in with the scotch brite pad. I just did mine.

I cannot stress enough how little I actually polished the case...when I get a break from the Chargers game, I'll try taking some better pics of the case in the natural daylight outside. The edges of the case were untouched...I just lightly brushed the sides of the case with the dremel wheel. The case nor the polishing wheel ever got warm or hot...I'd equate it to rubbing with cape cod cloths for 10 minutes or so. I didn't get in there and really grind at all. Wish I had a video cam so I could put the process up on youtube.

I've used the Scotch Brite trick a couple of times on a couple of links. One thing I would recommend that you do after you have finished your treatment is to wash your bracelet thoroughly using the JJ approved soap, water and toothbrush technique.

That just keeps any possible metallic particles away from your links as well as your wrist.

Nice job sdwtchlvr!

That's a great job with very nice results. Really appreciate the time you took to document the process. That was quite thorough, with plenty of warnings and caveats.

Thanks, sdwtchlvr!

My intention was simply to remove the superficial light swirlies on the sides of the case. There are some slightly deeper hairlines that didn't come out in the couple of minutes of polishing...which is fine...that's how I gauge removed. I would never do anything to risk damaging my watch...if I wasn't comfortable with the process I wouldn't do it.

To answer the question above, I used the felt wheels for polishing but didn't really use the cotton wheel this time...used the cape cods instead.
Wonderful job!
