Years went by , and I kept waiting (for prices to drop? ha-ha) and have since turned my attention to the 116500. I promised myself by next bday (which is coming up) to get one, whichever version I decide on.

My bday is still months away, but with corona and several other events throwing down their perspective on life for me - I was done waiting.

Deliberated long and hard on white vs black 116500 eventually white won out. I don't think it looks as 'serious' as the black, as I dress casual 99% of the time and love the contrast on the dial. I wouldn't mind a black one at some point as well.

I haven't worn it yet as it needs to be sized. And you are all very familiar with the watch --- but here are my first few observations:

1. Watch is definitely stunning (I have never seen one in person). Online videos and pictures can only represent so much of it - in person it is a piece of marvel.

2. First observation is it feels more solid and heavier then my current daily of 16710. Not by much, but noticeable.

3. Even though I don't have a side by side comparison - I'm happy I went with the white dial

4. I'm trying to figure out how to work it into my wear - as my current 16710 has been my absolute go-to for daily, trips and almost everything in between. This daytona is definitely a few notches above in 'presence' and 'bling' then I'm used to for day to day wear. I have a few Panerais that are eye catchers as well that I will wear out on weekend, but never to office day to day.

5. Just gotta get her sized up and ready to rock! Will update if it gets majority wrist time or just special occasion and weekends. Gonna let it grow on me!

How do the rest of you wear your daytona?

Thanks for all the help on here, inspiration and guidance which route to go!

Congratulations

Congratulations, a fantastic piece and looks great on you.
Good move to pick one up now and not be bothered by an indefinite waiting time.

Looks like a great fit on you!! Much bigger would be little too big IMO for your wrist.

Happy early birthday and congrats on the sweet taste of the honeymoon period and hunt.

I’ve had Daytona and DaytonaC from my AD previously but ended up flipping each for same reasons - just couldn’t read the time AS quickly as on a Sub obviously (and at night Sub has much more lume), I don’t use the chrono function as I thought I would ...but on a Sub I use my bezel all the time to time things - mark a time of day for something, lacked glidlock clasp, and lastly it just didnt sing to me after a day or two of wearing it before I sold. I def feel I enjoyed the hunt of getting it from and AD more than the piece ....but I’m a minority here on TRF by not being a Daytona enthusiast

Fantastic piece and if I had a large collection and could rotate a lot I would def add one back.

The bling factor and PCL is mainly in your head. You’ll get some extra glances if people notice it’s a Daytona but just wear it and enjoy it! Congrats again

I’ve had mine for a few years now, I still get excited every time I put it on. We’ve been staying at home for the most part so what I would call my good watches are not getting much wear. Spending a lot of time exercising and long walks weather permitting so between my Fitbit and G Shock, that’s been my daily watches since March 14.

That's a beauty and the one that got me going down the rabbit hole. I rotate mine -- off when sleeping or exercising, on otherwise. Been doing it for almost 3 1/2 years. Not at all tired of it yet. I think you'll love it and am glad you pulled the trigger. Such a beauty!
