Submariner authentic?

Hi all, I've just had an awful eBay experience (!!!), now beginning to look around again at watches I will be able to inspect in person. How does this look? Pictures of movement not available as they're a private seller and don't have the capability.

Thanks in advance!

All good from the outside. Get it opened before buying though.

Hi all, I have received more pictures from the seller, attached here. How is this looking to everyone? I have secured a good price of AUD $11000 flat (USD $6820). The serial matches the documentation which is an obvious plus. I have asked again about photographs of the movement but unsurprisingly he doesn't have the equipment to open the case himself and is I think may be unwilling during these strange times to take it to a dealer—though the sale is local, it is through eBay so I do have a level of protection there.

Thanks again for any advice!

I’ll be reluctant to buy a luxury watch, that cost thousands on Ebay. I would search AD, and see if they have a Submariner in stock. Another option would be to look at the online watch dealers. Bob’s watchers, etc.

I have absolutely no expertise in this area. That said I would be hesitant. All the pictures are from the side, at arm’s length or slightly out of focus. That seems odd to me, especially since you said you were interested and asked (I assume) for more/better pictures.

I think it would be more challenging than usual to get it authenticated with all that’s going on. I’d pass unless you feel completely comfortable with it. It’s not the only fish in the sea.

Nothing there shows red flags nor does anything authenticating it.

If you want to be more sure get photos of engraving between lugs at 12 oclock
Get a movement photo
Personally I would NOT buy/pay that amount of money without being 100% sure.

The fakes are close to perfect!

Hi all, I have received images of the movement. Please let me know if I'm safe on this purchase—I can inspect it in person, though not with the case open like this. There appears to be some minor damage to the case but I'm not particularly bothered by this—is AUD $11000 (USD $6820) a fair price for a watch of this condition with original box and papers?
